RCA Coaches
Liz Hoffman has loved the water since she learned to swim at the Bettendorf Middle Park Pool. She began swimming competetively as part of the inagural season for the Pleasant Valley (Blackhawk) Jr High swimming team.
Liz swam at camps and summer practices while teaching lessons in the PVHS pool. Liz's favorite stroke was backstroke and her favorite event to compete in was the 400 Medley Relay. When the girls' season was over, Liz could be found timing for the boys' meets.
Liz has a heart for teaching, encouraging and team building. For the last 10 years from Colorado to Kansas and now back home to Iowa, she has been priviledged to serve as a meet volunteer, team liason, lesson instructor, lesson director, age group coach, middle school coach, high school coach, and now as Head Coach at RCA.
When Liz came to RCA, 8 years ago she with the help of others brought The World's Largest Swim Lesson to the CHS pool and she continues to promote their shared motto of "Swim Lessons Save Lives".
Liz has not only had the the opportunity to coach swimmers on to championship levels and college swimming but she counts among her greatest accomplishments "her swimmers" that caught the water bug and preform at levels that they didn't realize they could accomplish and especially those swimmers that have gone on to coach! Her 2 adult children have a love for the sport and continue to teach and coach the next generation.
Liz and her husband Edson (swim support staff) live with 3 of their children (all swimmers) in DeWitt and can be found most weekends poolside.
