New swimmers interested in the Rams Swim Club will need to attend a New Swimmer Observation with the coaches.

Rams Swim Club (RSC) is a USA sanctioned swimming team offering training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels.  It is the goal of RSC to build strong athletes and well-rounded individual swimmers.  We have four skill levels/groups and while the guidelines and descriptions for each are below, the coaches reserve the right to assign swimmers to the appropriate group.

All Rams Swim Club swimmers ARE REQUIRED be a USA registered swimmer.

Swimmers will generally be ages 12 and younger who are making the transition from swim lessons into competitive swimming or have an interest in swimming but have never done so competitively. The focus will be the introduction and refinement of stroke technique, flip turns, starts, and proper underwater streamline position. Practices are 90% Technique, 10% Training.

Silver

Swimmers in the silver group will generally be ages 8 to 12 years old. The group will focus on continued refinement of stroke technique, flip turns, proper underwater streamline position, and starts. They will be introduced to training concepts (reading a pace clock, practice set up including warm up, small sets, cool down).  Practices are 60% Technique, 40% Training.

Swimmers  are generally 10-14 years old. Swimmers know how to legally perform all four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and use a pace clock. The focus of this group is to prepare athletes, both physically and mentally, for the transition from age group level swimming to senior level swimming. Practices are 35% Technique, 65% Training.

Gold/High School

Swimmers in the  Gold Group are 13 and older. Swimmers know how to legally perform all four competitive strokes, starts and turns legally. The focus of this group is istroke mechanics, challenging aerobic and anaerobic training sets, race strategies and dryland. Team leadership and being role models for the younger swimmers is expected.   Practices are 20% Technique, 80% Training.

VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS

All families are expected to volunteer for a minimum of 8 sessions (approx. 4 hours session) per 2 swimmers if registered during fall/winter season and 1 session per 2 swimmers if registered during spring/summer season. A volunteer fee of $100 will be accessed to your account if requirement is not met for either season. This fee will be prorated.

  • Blizzard Blast Invitational is held in January and our largest fundraiser.
  • IASI Age Group Championship
  • We will host a handful of smaller home meets including an intrasquad and dual/tri.
  • Championship meets have a volunteer requirement for teams. Volunteering at these meets qualify for your families volunteer hours.
  • RCS has a number of community events available for families to receive volunteer hours and are posted under Events when available.
  • Joining a committee will count towards your volunteer expectations. You must attend meetings to receive credit.

 

DONATION EXPECTATIONS

All families are expected to donate a minimum of 2 items per season / per 2 swimmers during fall/winter and spring/summer season. A donaton fee of $15 will be accessed to your account if requirement is not met. This is per season and not per home meet.
