Jade Sobek

Jade has been coaching with CAST since the fall of 2017.  He looks forward to each season with great anticipation, and hopes to help more youth have great experiences through swimming to see how much a swimmer can accomplish with hard work and dedication.

Jade began coaching a couple of months after graduating from Denison University.  His time at Carthage College was a time of huge personal growth. It was a priceless experience that he turns to often throughout his coaching career. He found himself back in Billings and stepped into a club coaching and an instructor at MSU-Billings. After nearly 3 years, he took up the opportunity in Bozeman, MT to be head coach of an entire program. In Bozeman, he coached many swimmers at all different levels, from tryouts of beginning swimmers to National level qualifiers. He served as Age Group Chair for 4 years and was the Montana Zones Coach in 2012 and 2016.  Then Jade began and served on the National Age Group Committee for 8 years. Now he has found a home with CAST for the past 5 years. Jade served as Inland Empire Swimming (IES) Age Group chair for 2 and was the Age Group Zones coach in 2021, currently serving as coaches chair for IES, and serves as the Volunteer Director of the Coeur d’ Alene Crossing.

Shelly Sobek

Shelly has been coaching competitive swimming since 2004.  The majority of her experience is in age group swimming with 14 and under swimmers. She has coached in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Billings and Bozeman, Montana and now in CDA Idaho.  Shelly grew up swimming, and started at the age of 7 on the local YMCA swim team in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.  She swam for Star Swim team in St. Paul, MN from the age of 14-18, and also competed for her high school swim team.  Shelly continued swimming at Carthage College, in Kenosha Wisconsin, where she enjoyed a variety of events, but swam mostly Fly and Freestyle. Shelly and Jade created the Billings Masters Swim Team, and continues to swim on her own, as she believes swimming is the best lifelong sport.  She is a special education teacher for Lake City High School, and the head coach for the LCHS Swim team since 2019.

Shelly enjoys spending time with her family playing games and watching her 2 girls swim competitively.
