SWAT Winter Invite
Over 60 Crocs competed at the SWAT Winter Invite last weekend, a prelims/finals meet designed as a primer for the championship meets later in the short course season. Our kids once again did a superb job racing, particularly in the finals sessions Saturday and Sunday evenings. It was the last meet of 2022 for our club, and the kids finished the year out with some great swims!
For five CAST swimmers, this was their first competition! Anna Estep, K.C. Hughes, Alice Masiello, Mia Stroh, and Reese Thompson took the plunge and did a fantastic job representing themselves and CAST all weekend. Great job to our first timers!
The Winter Invite was a prelims/finals format, with individual high points awarded in each age group. Hank Crow (8 and under boys), Michaela Richard (8 and under girls), Owen Bennett (13-14 boys) and Tillie Sobek (13-14 girls) all captured the top spot for their respective age groups! Other athletes finishing in the top 3 for high point running were Avery Bennett (3rd, 8 & under girls), Adeline Downing (2nd, 9-10 girls), Harris Crow (2nd, 9-10 boys), Everly Desancic (3rd, 11-12 girls), Trace Bennett (3rd, 11-12 boys), Jake Sachtjen (2nd, 15 & over boys) and Ethan Abbott (3rd, 15 & over boys).
George Lavy made his first ever WA Open cuts in his 100 free as well as his 100 fly, going a perfect 100% best times in all 6 of his events! Ethan Abbott dropped below the 1:00 mark for the 100 back, also his first ever qualifying time for the Washington Open. Raegan Greiner went PR’s in all 7 of her events, as did Maggie Sobek in her 7 events, Griffin Snyder in all 4 races, and Silas Ragan in his 4 swims.
Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful year of competitions; we are looking forward to our big championship meets in 2023!
