Shamrock Shakeup
The Shamrock Shakeup represents the last meet of the short course year for most of our athletes. This year, the Shakeup offered a pentathlon lineup, with athletes able to compete for top honors by racing 5 events in a single day. Our athletes showed up ready to rock, and they had three great days of racing to close out a very successful short course season! Families, we will be getting the Shamrock awards at the meet this weekend and passing them out on deck at practice next week.
We had several athletes really show their grit and complete both pentathlons, with 5 swims on both Saturday and Sunday. Liv Tyslau, Hank Crow, Harris Crow, Payton Goodwin, Izzy Hunt, Annalise Hunt, Anjali Richards, Michaela Richards, Kamran Rosenberger, and Keegan Rosenberger all completed the 10 events in 2 days, with many of them also competing in one of the distance races Friday night! It takes guts and fortitude to complete 10 or 11 swims in a short span, and to see almost a quarter of our participaing athletes sign up for the gauntlet of races was awesome!
Quite a few athletes earned an avalanche of best times; Caroline Anderson was 5 for 5 on new personal bests, Dylan Gardner and Daniel Garcia both went 4 for 4, Ellie Ruth was 8 for 9 on PR's, Olivia PItsch and Kamryn Braga both went 7 best times in 9 events, and Kinley Ochoa went 5 for 6. With all the events offered going faster than ever that many times is quite impressive!
CAST had one first time competitor in Mina Kim. Mina swam 3 terrific & legal races in the 50 back, 50 breast and 50 free to kick off her competitive swimming career! Finally, Avery Bennett lowered her own team record in the 500 freestyle Friday night. Congratulations to all our swimmers on a great weekend of swimming!
