Coaching Staff
Rachel Sewell Head Coach

Rachel Sewell graduated from Ferris High School and received her bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations from the University of Idaho. She swam for the Vandals, winning four individual Western Athletic Conference (WAC) titles and was named the WAC Swimmer Of The Year in 2014. She finished her career as one of the best swimmers in school history, with University of Idaho program records in the 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and 200 Individual Medley. She coaches the Junior and Senior groups at the North YMCA. 

Brandon Fairhurst Assistant Coach
Brandon Fairhurst graduated from Snohomish High School and most recently from Gonzaga University with a degree in Psychology in 2018.  Brandon worked with various swim teams both in his hometown of Snohomish and Spokane. He was the Spokane Parks and Rec Aquaducks Swim Team Head Coach before joining SAS. He has been teaching or coaching swimming since 2014. He is also Lifeguard certified, a Lifeguard Instructor, and has held multiple management positions at different pools in the Spokane Area.
James Foltz Assistant Coach

James Foltz grew up just south of Spokane in Moscow, ID. He swam for the University of Utah from 2004-2006 and finished his degree Sports Science at the University of Idaho. He earned a Master’s of Science in Coaching and Athletic Administration in 2011 from Concordia University where he was also the team’s assistant coach. He worked with the senior athletes at the Mission Viejo Nadaores from 2010 to 2014 and was an assistant coach for the Gulf Coast Swim Team in Ft. Myers, FL from 2014-2016. He most recently joined us from King County Aquatic Club in Federal Way, WA.  James has over 10 years of experience coaching with various age groups.

Kylee Ennis Assistant Coach

Kylee Ennis graduated from Mead High School and went on to work with various aquatic programs throughout Spokane. She previously worked as the head coach of the North YMCA Novice Team and is currently the manager of the Deer Park Aquatic Facility during the summer. Kylee coaches the Improvers, Rising Stars, and Osprey Red at the North YMCA.  

Kaila Shaffer Assistant Coach

Kaila Shaffer graduated from Cheney High School and is currently working on her degree in Psychology at Eastern Washington University. Kaila grew up in Arizona swimming and doing gymnastics. Kaila coaches the Improvers and Rising Stars group at the Valley YMCA. She exudes joy and leadership when working with our youngest athletes. 

Abi Millet Assistant Coach

Abi Millet graduated from Ferris High School and is working on her degree in Illustration and Graphic Design at Boise State University. She swam with S.A.S. through high school and joins us again in the summer to work with our Rising Stars group.
