SWAT Swimmers Sign National Letters of Intent

SWAT would like to congratulate swimmers Janie Richards and Drew Kistler. This past Wednesday was National Signing Day. In other words, Wednesday marked the day when athletes all across the country were eligible to sign their National Letters of intent to compete at the Collegiate Level. Both Janie and Drew signed committal and scholarship papers. Janie will be attending and competing for St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin and Drew will be attending and competing for the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

SWAT has several more seniors competing for scholarship opportunities at universities next year so this is the first of several signing events we will host. Congratulations swimmers, we are proud to have you represent SWAT and the greater cities of Spokane and Cheney when you attend University next year.

Spokane Waves Achieve USA Swimming Bronze Medal Status!

In case you haven’t noticed the new Bronze Medal Medallion on the front page of the team website, SWAT has achieved the National Level Bronze Status through USA Swimming. Each year USA Swimming awards Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medal Team status to those teams that qualify and/or rank multiple swimmers at the National Level.

SWAT earned Bronze Medal Status for the first time in team history this past summer through National Level Rankings and the Performances of Michael Hochwalt, Drew Kistler, and May Peterson.

Great Job Team! This is a big step forward for our program. Bronze Medal Status allows more recognition for our swimmers and Swimming in Spokane.
