Junior Olympics This Weekend

  • With 82 Swimmers in attendance, SWAT is going for the eighth IES Junior Olympic 1st Place Consecutive Team Finish!
  • This will be one of the largest Junior Olympics in recent history with 470 swimmers in attendance.
  • Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s and lower 100s this weekend so be prepared with plenty of water, shade and sunscreen. Swimmers are reminded to stay out of the sun as much as possible if they are serious about swimming fast.
  • This is a Prelims/Finals Meet for all 11 & Over Swimmers with the Top 14 swimmers in each age group qualifying for Finals ( A & B Finals). Finals Warm-up Times TBA at the meet.
  • Swimmers, make sure you bring your primary racing suits, goggles, team caps and your backups in case you have equipment failure.
  • Plan your snacks and meals ahead of time. Swimmers should be snacking throughout the day. Small snacks that aren’t heavy or acidic or won’t upset the athletes’ stomachs when they race are the best (bananas, apples, yogurt, trial mix, protein bars, etc.) Swimmers should be replenishing calories and hydrating after each race. Parents are asked to have lunches ready by the end of each prelim session so the swimmers can make the most of their time to rest in between Prelims and Finals.
