Coaches Note 11-10-09
Whew...the coaches have been trying to catch their breath. An awesome meet, sandwiched in between two fun little parties...who could have asked for a better weekend?!? Well, if you still have the energy for more (you know we do!), then dive right on in to the upcoming events!
· Developmental Meet Recap
The best way to describe this year’s Developmental Meet is to do so in song. Ahem:
(to the tune of “12 Days of Christmas”)
12 Brand New Swimmers
It’s the 11th Month of the Year
10 Officials Watching
9 Parents Screaming
8…uh…ok, that’s where it breaks down
At any rate, we did want to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make the meet run as smooth as it could have with 89 swimmers! Because of the support of the parents and volunteers, we had 153 lifetime best swims, two team records set, and…
One National Junior Disability Championship qualifying time from Kim Sutton in the 50 backstroke. Make sure you congratulate her if you see her on deck! She is also just off the 50 freestyle qualifying time as well. Cheer her on at Turkey Trot as she takes another shot at improving her times! Way to go!
Also, Matthew Stapleton swam great, breaking a team record in the 50 backstroke in his first week since joining the Senior Group! Keep up the great work!
Last, but not least, Kyle O’Malley, swimming in his last meet as a 14 year old, swam the 50 free in a team-record time of 23.94! Congratulations Kyle!
· Masters Update
Harm-Jan Steenhuis
is currently in the Netherlands on business..or is it for swimming? Harm-Jan recently competed at a meet in which he qualified for the Masters World Championships in the 50 breaststroke. Congratlutions!
Additionally, the Masters team continues to grow and thrive. Things are a bit crowded, but if you know of anyone who’d like a great workout, tell’em to come on by!
· Turkey Trot
Hopefully, we’ll get a timeline for the Turkey Trot meet by Friday this week. Be on the lookout, both in your email inbox and on the website. We have over 80 signed up for this meet, and can’t be more excited about the upcoming competition!!!
