BASC Parent Clinic Page

Team Clinics will be released each month throughout the season. Last year we tried these in person, but to be honest they were boring and it was hard to get good information for our families to reference. This year, will be releasing a Power Point presentation for each clinic, along other additional information and references. Then, we will have online Q&A sessions scheduled for parents to ask questions about the information from these clinics. We will also have swimmer online sessions scheduled. Below you can see the release dates and what information will be covered at this years clinics. 

November 20, 2020 - Athlete Diet & Nutrition/ Pre & Race Day Snacks and Meals -   A complete look at a swim-specific diet and nutrition. We will look at dietary issues ranging from age, size, gender, target goals, etc. We will give parents several tips and tricks manage your athletes diet and expectations. There will also be several articles, videos, and reference materials to peruse.

December 20, 2020 - How to Nurture the Growth of a Competitive Swimmer - Swimmers success is produced, but how do you go about nurturing the growth and interest for long term success in the sport and life? This clinic will be an interesting look at swimmers at different levels in the sport, as well as various problems parents may have to deal with a growing athlete in the sport of swimming. This clinic will be followed by lots of reading and video on similar topics. 

January 20, 2021 - New BASC Swim Program & Group Expansion -  This clinic will be the most important of the year. It will affect every family and their swimmers. This will be the release of the team's new training platform and group specific restructuring. This will cover all group training and how to successfully graduate each respective level. 

February 20, 2021 - Swimmer Mental Health - Balancing sports with life can be a tough burden on athletes. We take a look a various issues in swimming that effect swimmers mental health. As your athlete progresses this will become the most important component to their racing and training.

March 20, 2021 - High School & College Transitions/ College Recruitment - Swimmers go through many changes during transitions that occur when entering high school and college training. It is important that families learn their options and what things to expect moving from "age group" swimming to the older kids levels as they get older. We will also look at how to get your athlete recruited to college for swimming. 

April 20, 2021 - How to Succeed by Learning to Deal with Failure  - Swimming is a sport riddled with failure. This failure manifests itself in many ways including stroke correction, day to day practice issues, issues at meets, handling criticism, etc. Dealing with, managing, and improving from these failures becomes an important life skill in and out of the water. 

May 20, 2021 - How to Catch-up to Group, Setting Long Term and Short Term - Swimmers begin and advance at varying levels growing up. Every athlete will progress and show interest at different times, but how do swimmers catch-up or advance in order to improve abilities and keep up with their groups and training? We will take an in-depth look at the issues surrounding this subject as well as ways to set manageable goals to achieve what your athlete would like to get out of their sport.
