Melissa Tyson Head Coach

Hello Everyone! The Dolphins Swim Team has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember! I joined the team at the age of 6 after watching my older sisters swim on the team for years. I swam until I was 18 on the team and my last season swimming, I decided to coach. I have now been coaching for a total of 13 consecutive years and became the Head Coach in the fall of 2016.

I swam at BBCHS all 4 years and qualified for state every year. I also played Water Polo for 3 years at BB. I then took a break from swimming and attended ONU for my bachelors degree in Psychology and Elementary Education.  When I was completing my Masters Degree, I swam at ONU for 1 year and then became the Graduate Assistant for 1 year. In addition, I coached at the Kankakee Country Club for 8 years in the summers. As you can tell, coaching is 100% my passion and I truly enjoy it!

This program has been a huge part of my life and it has been so amazing to watch this team grow and become successful over the years. I am very excited to begin a new season and see what the swimmers and team can do. Coaching is the most fun, yet rewarding job there is and I am glad to be a part of this "family". I love working with your children and getting to know them in and out of the pool!

Ashley Porter Assistant Coach

I am so excited to be back for another season coaching the Bradley Bourbonnais (Dolphins) Swim Club. I started swimming as a BBSC swimmer myself when I was 8 years old. I swam for Dolphins and BBCHS until I graduated in 2001 at 18. I also coached this team for a 2 years during high school. I then continued my swimming career in college, swimming Division I at Bradley University in Peoria. While I was in Peoria, I coached the River City Swim Club, lifeguarded, managed the three outdoor pools, and taught swim lessons.

When I graduated, I returned to the area as a high school English teacher for Manteno High School, where I am still currently teaching.  I also coached the Dolphins again for a few years until I had my daughter, Hailey. I then took quite a few years off from coaching but taught both of my kiddos to swim at an early age. When Hailey decided to join the team at age 7, I tried to sit on the sidelines and support her as a parent. However, the love of coaching this sport brought me back to it. Now, with both of my children swimming and my husband coaching as well, we are back to being ‘Dolphins’ and couldn't be happier!

I am a USA Swimming certified coach with certifications in lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and Water Safety Instruction (WSI).  I also hold degrees in English, Secondary Education, Masters of Curriculum and Instruction, and a Masters in Administration.

I look forward to working with your children and instilling in them the same passion and drive for the sport of swimming as I have had all of my life.

Carrie Rink Assistant Coach

I am originally from the area but moved to Morris at age 5 and started swimming at age 7 for the Morris Marlins. Moving back to the area in 6th grade, I swam for the BB Dolphins ages 11-14. At the age of 12, I qualified for the Junior Olympics in the 50 Breaststroke. I did not swim through high school though, as other sports took this place.

But after becoming lifeguard certified and teaching swim lessons, I found myself coaching at age 19-21 for the Dolphins.  In 2003, I moved to the Los Angeles area, teaching private swim lessons at client's homes. As I moved around for 6 years in California and Arizona, I continued to teach lessons to all ages and aqua fitness classes. After having 2 children of my own, (Carson and Charlie Quigley), I found myself moving back to the area again to be near family. Both children swim for the Dolphins, and I have been coaching for the Dolphins again for the past 4 years on and off. Carrie also has swam masters and plans to do so again in the near future!

I am married to Ryan Rink and together we have 6 children and 2 grandchildren. In our spare time, we love to travel, camp, and boat. Water sports are a must!!  I am a retired hairstylist (well sometimes),  am now currently a Teachers Assistant at BUGC, and still teach fitness classes in my spare time. But my love is for the water and my passion is coaching.  I love watching these swimmers continue to grow through technique and strength! Swimming for life!

Swimming, of course, is my first love. Currently I teach in the Kankakee School District. I implemented Girls on the Run at my school. I swam for BBSC for 12 years, all the way up until I turned 19. When I was 16, I started coaching as well as swimming, and I have been coaching with the team for 3 years. While I was on the team I was a member of two record-breaking medley relays, and qualified for state when I was 11, and 12.

I swam on the varsity team at BBCHS all 4 years and was named captain my senior season. In addition I was a back-to-back SWSC Champ in the 100 Breast. I also played Water Polo for 4 years in high school I also played water polo all 4 years of high school. Following high school, I committed to, and currently attend, Millikin University and am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. While at Millikin, I have swum the 8th fastest 100 breaststroke and 7th fastest 200 breaststroke in school history. I was also a part of the 2nd fastest 200 medley relay in Millikin history. At the CCIW Championships, I have won 3 B Finals and was an A Finalist in the 200 breaststroke in 2020. I have also been named CCIW Academic All-Conference in both my freshman and sophomore campaigns.

I’ve gotten to witness firsthand the ups and downs of this team, and it has been amazing to watch the program grow to the place that we are at. I could not be more excited to get back to the pool, and to coaching your amazing children! Looking forward to a great season!

Reily Kane Assistant Coach

My name is Reily Kane and I have been a competitive swimmer for about 10 years. I swam with the dolphins from age 10-17 and I am so excited to be back. I swam in high school for BBCHS as well as player water polo, I then went on to swim for Quincy university in their inaugural season. Unfortunately I ended my swimming career there because I was having shoulder problems. I have taught swim lessons for 6 years and coached for 5. I am looking forward to working on a lot of technique as well as being able to maintain some good yardage with the swimmers! Great technique will help prevent a lot of injuries in the future!

Cali Olshefski Assistant Coach

Hi there! I am Cali Olshefski and I am so excited to be back coaching for my second season. I have been swimming for BBSC since I was 9 years-old, as well as attending numerous Nike Swim Camps and several clinics at Olivet Nazarene University. I am currently a Junior at Manteno High School and have been swimming on Kankakee High School's co-oped girls swim team for all 3 years. Last season and during my freshman year season, we finished undefeated and I am so excited to be a team captain next year. I have obtained my American Red Cross certification in lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED. I am also working towards becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant through KACC. From a young age, I have always had a passion for working with kids. I am a member of the National Honors Society at my school and I enjoy tutoring/mentoring younger students. I am also apart of Manteno Magic Show Choir and was selected as a High School helper for the middle school show choir called Grand Paws. I hope to broaden our swimmers knowledge of different swimming techniques, drills, and to build up their endurance. My goal is to be very supportive and encouraging towards our swimmers goals this season and I can't wait to not only watch them grow as an athlete, but also as a person!

Molly Siniawski Assistant Coach

Hello Dolphins! My name is Molly Siniawski and I am excited to be one of your Summer 2020 coaches. I swam competitively from the age of 8 through college and have been around swimming my whole life. In fact that is how I met my husband! We swam together in college. I was a distance swimming in college and mainly swam the 200 and 400 IM, 200 Back, 200 Fly, 500, 1000, and the mile. I started teaching swim lessons at 15 and have taught swim lessons on and off throughout my life. Outside of the pool, I am an elementary school counselor and have worked with preschool- 8th grade students in some form for over 15 years. Proper technique and training is important but it's the character building that I enjoy shaping.

My husband, Jim and I have three daughters, and live in Manteno. My older two girls are on the swim team and have LOVED every minute of it and my younger daughter still has a few more years to go before she can join. I grew up swimming for the East Moline Swim Club in the Quad Cities. Interestingly, my youth swim coach grew up in Kankakee and he swam for Coach Jo Grogan.
