When did you start swimming?  How did you get started?  What teams or clubs have you swum with?

My mom put me in swimming lessons when I was 3 years old with Mac Tay Aquatics.  I started swimming competitively when I was seven years old.  I swam for Storm Aquatics, Heat and Centennial High School.

What are your college plans?  Will you swim?  What will you major in?

I am going to be a student athlete at Ball State.  I am excited to continue swimming at the college level!  What will I major in?  Good question, it's a work in progress.  I love working with kids and helping people so I hope to do something along those lines in the future.

What have you learned from swimming?

Swimming has taught me a LOT.  I can't begin to tell you how many times Will has told me, "Focus on the things you can control.  If you have given your all there is nothing to worry about." and "To relax and have fun!"  Swimming has allowed me to push beyond my comfort zone.  After the long road to recovery with my shoulders, I learned to truly believe in myself.  Pushing through all the therapy appointments and kicking while everyone else was swimming and competing was tough, but YOU CAN do it if you put the effort into it.  Hard work pays off.  Swimming has also helped me with time management, which is one of the keys to success in this sport.

What is your favorite swimming memory?

My Senior High School season was short, but sweet this year.  I wanted to break another record, but I figured it was nearly impossible.  The 50 free was the second race of the day and I ended up getting a best time and breaking a record.  It was unbelievable and the best meet of my life!  The best part of all was having all of my teammates and coaches on the same pool deck.  The energy was incredible.

What is your favorite event?  Least favorite?

My favorite event is the 100 fly.  It's not too long and not too short.  I fell in love with butterfly a few years ago and the feeling I get while swimming it.  Anything involving breaststroke is my least favorite.  We don't get along very well.

What is your favorite movie?  Favorite food?  Favorite place?

My favorite food: Mom's cupcakes and pasta!

Favorite place: The beach and Lake Okoboji

Favorite movie: Hitch and The Notebook

What 3 people would you invite to dinner?

Jesus, my grandma Rod and Ryan Gosling

Tell us something about yourself that people might find surprising or interesting.

I have NEVER swum the 500 freestyle in a meet. :)
