Chicago Latin Swim Club Levels
Blue
Athletes in the introductory competitive blue group:

Continue to refine all four strokes

Work toward longer competitive distances

Are introduced to the pace clock, interval starts, and sets

Learn racing starts
-
Are introduced to swim meet terms and procedures in preparation for upcoming competitions

Work on incorporating flip turns into all sets
-
Introduce I.M. based workouts
Orange
Moving up from the blue group, athletes in the orange group:
-
Continue to refine all four strokes through more complex drills and sets

Continue to refine flip turns

Work toward longer competitive distances, including distance days in practice

Continue to work on utilizing the pace clock, interval starts, and more complicated sets
-
Complete I.M. based workouts
Roman
Moving up from the orange group, athletes in the Roman group:
-
Continue to refine all four strokes through more complex efforts including sets that incorporate descending, negative splitting, sprinting, and breath control
-
Work toward longer competitive distances, including distance days in practice
-
Begin to do more specialized sets based on their strengths in competition
-
Work towards qualifying times to attend championship meets
Roman-High School
Same in structure as the previous Roman group, this high school specific group is for athletes who compete with their high school team for part of the fall and winter season.
Girls: Will swim with their high school teams September-Mid November. These athletes will return to the club Mid-November and will swim with the club through the end of February.
Boys: Will swim with the club September-Mid November. They will return to their high school teams Mid-November and will swim with their schools through the end of February.
