Meet the Instructors

Abby Hilst

I'm currently finishing my degree in Elementary Education at ISU.  I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to teach swim lessons at Five Points. I've been fortunate to work with an endless amount of terrific children and families. I swam competitively since the age of six for several local swim teams. I was an assistant coach for the Water Warriors and Metamora Area Swim Team. I've volunteered for HISRA's Special Olympic Swim Team, I've taught at several facilities where I have worked with all ages and all skill levels! I have a lot of incredible experience working with children with special needs and view swimming as an essential skill to have for all learners. I am still just as much a student as I am a teacher in the water. I am constantly learning new ways to help others feel safe in the pool.

Meghan O'Leary

I am originally from Southern Illinois, I moved to the area a couple years ago to pursue my degree in nursing. Before I moved I spent a lot of time teaching swim lessons, instructing lifeguard classes, and lifeguarding at pools around my home town. I've taught all ages and skill levels and have a lot of experience teaching adults. I have instructed autism classes, competitive swim classes, as well as many group learn to swim classes. I love swimming and helping people overcome the fear of water and to be safe around the water. I instruct all ages and skill levels because you are never too young or too old to learn how to swim!

Meghan is available in the early afternoon on weekdays and on weekend mornings.  Click here to request private or semi-private lessons with Meghan!

Nathan Lipski

I have been swimming since 2007.  I enjoy working with children ages 3 and up, my favorite part of my job is when a kid I've been teaching gets a skill we’ve been working on. They're always so excited and it's great to see all their hard work pay off. From my experience, confidence and patience are most important when it comes to learning to swim.

Nathan is a group lesson instructor.

Paige Witte

Swimming is something I've always found joy in. Whether it's going to a pool with my friends or swimming to get a great workout. I love to work with beginner to early intermediate children (6 months to 7 years old) because at these ages you get so many "ah ha" moments when the child masters the skill they have been working on. I have been a runner all of my life so I understand that skills have to be repeated in order to master them in the correct way.

Paige is available weeknights 4:00-8:00 PM and on Sunday mornings. Click here to request private or semi-private lessons with Paige!

Ryann Pugh

I was practically born in the water and I love to swim and dive.  I was a member of the Washington Water Jets swim team for 13 years. In addition to swimming, I also helped with the younger swimmers during their practice time. I have experience working with children in a variety of settings and am passionate about helping others learn new things. I have special place in my heart for children with special needs and I am planning on majoring in special education and musical theater or performing arts when I go to college. I am a Red Cross certified babysitter and have taken classes in child development.  I would love to have the opportunity to teach your child!

Ryann does not have any current openings.

Theresa Heath

I love teaching folks to be safe and comfortable in the water while having fun! I enjoy instructing all ages, from new learners through intermediate-age swimmers. I bring to you my extensive background as an educator, highlighted by working with elementary-age and special needs students. I've love teaching Montessori children and volunteering with the Special Olympics. I'm certified as a US Sailing Instructor and a PADI open water scuba diver. Knowing how to swim is both important and fun-for pleasure, exercise, or just knowing how to be safe in any water situation for you and your loved ones! I would love the opportunity to teach you or your children the skills to make swimming a life-long safe and awesome experience.
