Steve Iida
--------------------------------------------------

Glenbrook Swim Club Head Coach
Senior Lead Age Group Coach
[email protected]

Steve is honored and excited to be coaching Glenbrook Swim Club (GSC), which brings together two strong and passionate communities in one united team. The road that led Steve to this dream role began in 2003 when Steve assumed responsibility for the Glenview Titan Aquatic Club. When Steve arrived, GTAC was in its infancy with 20 swimmers, but grew to serve over 200 swimmers in the 15 years of his leadership.  At GTAC, Steve and his coaching staff regularly produce champions, finalists and qualifiers at Age Group Regionals and Age Group State meets, Illinois Senior Championships, Speedo Sectionals, Junior and Senior Nationals and Olympic Trials. Along the way, Steve was selected on multiple occasions as a coach for the USA National and Junior National teams as a result of placing athletes on both teams. He has been by recognized by USA Swimming and the National Swimming Coaches Association for coaching excellence and is a two-time Illinois Swimming Senior Coach of the Year recipient.

Steve is a lifelong resident of Glenview.   During his school years, he participated competitively in many sports (swimming, basketball, baseball and water polo, to name a few). He is a big believer in participating in as many sports as possible at a young age. Steve finished his competitive swimming career (200 fly and IMs) with two years on the varsity team at Illinois Institute of Technology.  He went on to earn a B.A. in Economics at Northern Illinois University and played water polo while he was there. Steve has a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Cardiovascular Research from Northeastern Illinois University. He worked as a corporate commercial banker for 6 years and a healthcare consultant for 10 years.

Steve and his wife, Kris, have three amazing children, Katie, Sam and Max.  They also have a family dog, Bear, who is the family’s best swimmer!  In his time away from coaching, Steve has coached girl’s fastpitch softball travel teams and has assisted with coaching other sports that his kids have been involved in. But his main passion is swimming and passing along the valuable life lessons that swimming teaches our athletes.

Kelly heads up the administrative side of Glenbrook Swim Club as the program director and has happily jumed back on deck as the 11-12 lead coach.  The formation of GSC and its journey is beyond super exciting.  She is looking forward to running the behind the scene club functions to make this team the best it can be.  She is also looking forward to the tremendous coaching staff that will confidently lead GSC to all around greatness.  She is an American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) level 4 certified coach as well as a current member of the Age Group Committee for Illinois Swimming.

Kelly Brown
-------------------------------------------------

GA Program Director
10U Lead Age Group Coach
[email protected]

A year-round club swimmer herself with the Arlington Alligators, she is convinced her heart and soul are within the pool and furthermore the wonderful sport of swimming! After finishing a four year Varsity swimming career at Saint Viator High School, she chose to embark on coaching rather than competing while studying for her college degree. After receiving a BA in Criminal Justice and no luck at obtaining a position within the court system, the idea of full-time coaching presented itself and she instantly jumped at the chance. After starting up Glenbrook Aquatics and building such a successful program it was obvious to her that aquatics is such an intricate part of her life, career & dream.

She looks forward to continuing to promote the GSC club philosophy which produces great swimmers that stay in the program for the long haul as well as developing them all into tremendous individuals.  Alongside a remarkable, highly skilled and supportive coaching staff at all levels of the Glenbrook Aquatic programs, the swimmers, divers, polo players and lesson participants are all bound and determined to become well-rounded and respectful athletes.

Kelly has two beautiful girls, Dayton & Tacy who will surely be seen around the pool for years to come.  She and husband Brian (who also coaches swimming) reside in Palatine and are very busy these days with raising their girls, busy with their school & sport events as well as playing with their crazy dog, Flyer.

Callan T. Heidkamp
-------------------------------------------------

13-14 Lead Age Group Coach
[email protected]

Coach Callan started swimming competitively at the age of seven. Growing up he swam for St. Charles Swim Team. He also swam all four years for the varsity level at St. Charles East HS. He attended Roosevelt University receiving his BA in Management. When not on the pool deck, Callan spends his time with his amazing wife Lara and their dog Shawn. He is an avid fan of Tottenham Hotspur, Starbucks Mochas, and Letterkenny. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Callan and Lara have been working on their health and finding new baking shows to watch. #GBBO

Coach Callan’s coaching job was in 2007 with the Glenview Titans Aquatic Club where he worked with Coach Steve Iida. In 2015, Coach Callan moved to Northern Virginia to coach for The Fish Swim Team. Callan became the Assistant Team Head Coach in 2018.

During the Summer of 2019, Callan and Lara moved back to Illinois to settle in Schaumburg. In the Fall of 2019, Callan joined GSC as an Assistant Lead Coach for Respect and Tenacious. In 2019, he has had the great fortune to join the GBS Boys Swimming staff with Coach Keith MacDonald as the JV2 Coach.

Coach Callan and Lara want to thank the whole GSC family for making them feel so welcomed. They look forward to many more years of GSC.
