Schedule a tryout today!

Please contact Head Coach Jory Blauer to schedule a tryout.

Where are tryouts?

Highland Park High School - 433 Vine Ave., Highland Park, IL - in the BRAND NEW 15 LANE POOL!!!

How will your tryout look?

Swimmers will be asked to swim freestyle and backstroke across a 25-yard pool. If they can perform these two strokes, they will be asked to demonstrate breaststroke and butterfly to the best of their ability. Coaches may also ask to see flip turns, open turns, and streamlines, however, these are not required to join HPAC. Stronger swimmers will be asked to stay longer and perform several laps so coaches can determine which group would best fit them.

Who will make the team?

We are looking for swimmers who are confident, comfortable in deep water and who can swim with their face in the water. HPAC swimmers have exhausted swim lessons and are ready for competitive swimming. Technically, we expect our swimmers to swim from one end of the 25-yard pool to the other in both Freestyle (crawl stroke) and Backstroke without stopping or struggling.

Next Steps?

If your swimmer is ready to join HPAC, we will send you an email with registration information as well as which group your swimmer will join. After they're registered, they are welcome to come to practice. Short course season runs from September through mid-March. Long course season runs from early April through mid-July.

What is HPAC?

HPAC is a competitive swim club and a part of USA Swimming which supports over 400,000 member swimmers nationwide. Our professional coaching staff creates a competitive yet nurturing swimming environment in which our swimmers can make friends, build self-confidence & learn to set and reach for goals.

When are practices & what are the groups?

You can view our practice schedule HERE. Most new swimmers and most 10 & Under swimmers will be placed in our Little Giants group. Older and stronger swimmers may be placed in our Mighty Giants or Giants groups. You can view our team group structure HERE.

When/where are swim meets & is my swimmer ready?

As a team HPAC will attend approximately 1-2 swim meets per month. Most swim meets are local – within an hours drive. If your swimmer is on HPAC, they are definitely ready for a swim meet! Our professional coaching staff takes great pride in helping new swimmers with their first swim meets. Sign 'em up, and we will do the rest. :-)

Parent member responsibilities?

HPAC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization made up of its family members. Our organization is funded by season dues, and various fundraising events, including 2-3 HPAC hosted swim meets at HPHS. We require all parent members to participate at our hosted meets.
