Greater Joliet Area YMCA
Illinois Swimming
Level 2

If you are new to the JETS and need to be evaluated by a coach for a group placement, please see the information in Step 1 below to schedule an evaluation.

If you are a returning JETS swimmer, or if you have already been evaluated for group placement by a coach, please skip to Step 2 to start your registration process for the new season.

Step 1: Get Evaluated #

Currently Accepting New Swimmers!

Joining the team for the first time starts with an evaluation to determine which of our practice groups would best suit you. If swimmers do not meet criteria to be placed on the team, the Joliet YMCA offers a wide range of swim lessons and aquatic programming to develop skills and passion for the pool.

Evaluations must be scheduled in advance.

We are currently only accepting new swimmers at our Galowich YMCA location:

Galowich Family YMCA
749 Houbolt Rd, Joliet, IL 60431

  • Your swimmer's evaluation will only last a few minutes, plus a brief chat afterwards.
  • When you arrive at the YMCA, you must check in at the front desk.
  • All individuals must wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose while inside the YMCA building, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Please remember to bring a towel and goggles. Swimmers with long hair should wear a swim cap.
  • After the evaluation, we will provide our recommendation for which of our practice groups or swim lesson levels would best serve you, and provide all of the schedules and registration information that you will need to sign up.
  • Swimmers do not need a YMCA membership to do a swim evaluation, however swimmers must be full Facility Members of the Joliet YMCA in order to register for the JETS swim team. You can find complete information about the Joliet YMCA, its mission, facilities, programs and schedules at
