LYONS Aquatics Competitive Learn to Swim - Level Descriptions
LYON Aquatics is thrilled to begin offering competitive, family friendly learn-to-swim for the greater La Grange & Western Springs community. Lessons will be offered in 45 minute sessions, twice per week, in three week increments. Below, please find descriptions of each level and what athletes can expect!
Lessons will cost $90.00 per three week session. Classes will be offered on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:45-6:30 PM at LT North.
Level 1: Lion Cubs
Lion Cubs will introduce athletes to the pool! Athletes will build confidence in the water by learning skills like floating on their front and back, rolling from one to the other, gliding off the wall, retrieving underwater objects, and jumping into water above their heads. Athletes will also be introduced to Freestyle and Backstroke arms and kicks.
Level 2: Pumas
Pumas will be comfortable with all of our Lion Cub skills. Athletes will take on more advanced skills like kicking on their side, introductory Freestyle and Backstroke, treading water, and jumping into deep water.
Level 3: Cheetahs
Cheetahs will continue to refine the skills they’ve developed with the Pumas and Lion Cubs, while being introduced to Freestyle Rotary Breathing, Breaststroke and Dolphin kicking, and USA Swimming’s Dive Progression.
Level 4: Tigers
Tigers will improve on their Freestyle Rotary Breathing while developing their Breaststroke and Butterfly strokes. They will also be introduced to Flipturns and continue to refine their Racing Starts. Athletes will complete their session with a mock meet where they will be evaluated to join our competitive team!
Level 5: Sea Lions
Sea Lions will refine their skills in preparation to join LYONS competitive swim team! Athletes will hone their skills in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly while developing racing turns and starts. Athletes will complete their session with a mock meet where they will be evaluated to join our competitive team!
