Coach Joey is thrilled to begin his 5th year with LYONS Aquatics! Coach Joey comes to LYONS following a successful stint at the Head Coach with Sheridan Swim Team in Quincy, IL. Prior to Quincy, Joey spent time at New Trier serving as the Direct of Operations and coaching groups and athletes of all ages and ability. Coach Joey's philosophy is based on three parts:
1.Structure, Routine, and Continuity from an early age encourage positive growth and development physically and psychologically.
2.Quality always trumps quantity.
3.That coaches set positive examples at and away from the training environment.
Coach Joey has been fortunate throughout his career to work with many great athletes and serve his Clubs and the Illinois Swimming community at large in many roles. Most recently, while serving as part of Illinois Swimming's Age Group Committee, Coach Joey traveled to Bloomington, IN with the 11-12 Pro Series Camp as as manager. He has also served as Head Coach for multiple camps, Assistant Coach several times with Illinois Swimming's 13-14 Select Camps at the Olympic Training Center, and as part of Camps Planning sub-committee.
When Joey is not at the pool, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending baseball games, and cooking.

Morgan grew up in Woodridge, IL and started swimming in high school. She swam for Express Swim Team and Downers Grove North High School. Morgan continuted her swimming career at Michigan State University where she set school records, competed in Big Ten finals and had an award named after her.
Morgan is a lead coach at Lyons, working primarily with 11/12 swimmers. She believes in having fun and quality swimming!
Morgan is married to Coach Denny and they enjoy family time and being active with their son.

Jack began his swimming career at the age of 9. Hailing from England, Jack began attending boarding school at the age of 12 where he set multiple national age group records and won multiple national titles in the sprint freestyle events. Jack represented England multiple times during his junior career, eventually moving the City of Derby where he spent time training with the likes of Adam Peaty and other British National teamers. Jack is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa, where he studied Sports & Recreation Management while minoring in History & Human Relations. Jack currently holds multiple Iowa school records and finished his competitive career as a multi-time NCAA All-American.

Max Michael was born in Baltimore, MD and swam for Mariner Swim Club. After moving to Jacksonville, FL he swam for The Bolles School Bulldogs and Bolles Sharks club team. Max attended Colgate University where he studied Political Science and Education, swimming as a Colgate Raider. He had a short but meaningful career on the Colgate Club Rugby practice squad, VK. Max attended Canisius college '22 earning a MS in Early Childhood Education. He likes dancing, triathlons, and is a proud intermediate plant dad. Anything is possible!


Katie grew up in Carmel, Indiana. While swimming at Carmel she achieved state titles in both USA Swimming and High School meets as well as making finals at US Nationals and qualifying for the US Olympic Trials. Katie went on to swim for Northwestern University at Big Ten finals and NCAA Championships.
Katie will be leading our 10&U-2 athletes this season! She believes in having fun with teammates, working on good stroke technique, and beginning race skills to swim fast in meets.
Katie is a speech therapist working in the area schools for LADSE and mom of two LYONS athletes.

Raised in Ventura, California and attended Buena High School where he was a swimming high school all american. Swam and played water polo at Long Beach State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Anatomy/Physiology. Head JV coach for one year at high school alma mater. 4 years coaching water polo for Lyons aquatics. Currently oversees the Orthotics/Prosthetics Department at Lurie Children's and is associate professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Happily married with two adult children. In spare time does competitive masters swimming and surfing.

Coach Jay became a part of the LYONS Aquatics family in the fall of 2018. Over the years he has coached a variety of different age groups, ranging from Intro to Water Polo to our 18U Boys and Girls Water Polo teams. He also serves as our resident Goalie Specialist.
Jay is a former NCAA Water Polo Goalie, and a graduate of Monmouth College. When he isn't on the pool deck, he is usually spending time with friends and family, playing golf, checking out a new coffee shop, or in the kitchen trying a new recipe.


Coach Susie has been a high school teacher for 25 years at LTHS. She was the JV Girls Swim Coach for 10 years and the LTHS Girls Varsity Water Polo Coach for 11. She took time off the deck when her two daughters were young. She is thrilled to be back coaching Water Polo for LYONS Aquatics. Coaching the 14U and HS Girls this summer was amazing and she can't wait to help the girls program continue to grow!
Coach Susie swam with LYONS starting at age 5! She still has a team record as part of a relay! While in high school at LT, she was a Junior Coach with LYONS. She then returned to coach Swim and Water Polo for LYONS Aquatics from 2000-2004. It seems like she has always come back "home" with LYONS! She was a successful distance swimmer at LT, but her #1 passion was always playing Water Polo! Coach Susie takes great pride in the success of the late '80s and early '90s Water Polo teams at LTHS during her playing days as an offensive set.
Coach Susie is currently the Assistant Division Chair for Physical Welfare at LT and teaches Scuba Diving, Exercise Physiology, and Adventure Education. She has two daughters, Teagan (who swims and plays water polo) and Logan (who swims, dances, golfs, and plays goalie on the soccer field).

Denny grew up in Downers Grove, competing for Express Swim Team and Downers Grove North High School. Denny continued his swimming career at Augustana College where he served as a team captain for two years. After graduating, Denny began coaching with Express Swim Team leading both Age Group and Senior athletes.
Denny is an assistant coach at Lyons, working primarily with 11/12 swimmers. He believes in having fun and learning through new drills and techniques to help athletes achieve their goals!
Denny has been coaching for over 10 years and has been with Lyons since 2019. He is married to Coach Morgan and enjoys running, watching the White Sox and time with their son.


Coach Erin started swimming on Woodstock Dolphins when she was 8 and then moved to Arlington Alligators where she swam from age 9 through high school. She swam at Buffalo Grove High School and was a team captain, school record holder, All-State, and All-American swimmer. She then continued to her swimming career at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she was a team captain and school record holder for the Illini.
Coach Erin started teaching swim lessons and coaching at her neighborhood pool during the summers while she was in high school. She began coaching high school in 2013 as an assistant coach for the University Laboratory High School girls team in Urbana while she was finishing her degree. After graduation, she started coaching at Glenbrook Aquatics in 2014. She worked mainly with the developmental groups before working with the senior groups for several seasons. In 2015, Coach Erin started as an assistant coach for the Lyons Township girls and boys swim teams. She has spent the last 4 seasons at LT and is currently an assistant coach for the girls team and the head coach for the boys team.
Coach Erin studied Elementary Education at the University of Illinois and has spent the last 5 years teaching 6th grade. She is currently a 6th grade English Language Arts teacher at Freedom Middle School in Berwyn.
