PROGRAM LEVELS

10U MIXED (SPLASHBALL)

Lyons Splashball program is designed to introduce the sport of water polo to children between the ages of 7 and 10.  The program teaches some of the basics of water polo to first time players while focusing on teamwork, fun and sportsmanship. Although some basic swim skills are required, players can stand on the bottom of the pool.

Splashball™ Pass Holder

The Splashball™ Pass Holder Program is an entry-level or junior membership for first time or recreational water polo athletes aged 5-11. This program is for first-time young athletes who have not been USAWP Bronze, Silver or Gold members in the past. For the remainder of 2020, the Splashball™ Pass Holder Program is $10 and comes with limited USA Water Polo Membership Benefits. 12U BOYS AND GIRLS

The 12U program is focused on an introduction to the game, basic water polo skills, fundamental technical skills, and foundational tactics. The Lyons coaching staff provides a fun atmosphere for young athletes to learn the basics.

14U BOYS AND GIRLS (MIDDLE SCHOOL)

The 14U program is focused on fundamentals technical skills and basic game tactics. This program is open to all level players. The Lyons coaching staff delivers a curriculum developed by the Technical Director to build a fully developed foundation of ball skills, body positioning, basic tactics, and conditioning.

18U AND 16U BOYS AND GIRLS (HIGH SCHOOL)

A water polo program focused on skill building and tactics. This program is open to all level players from novice to advanced. The Lyons coaching staff offers a water polo curriculum developed by the Technical Director to enable each athlete to reach their full potential.

 

The practices will focus on applying the individual technical skills with our team tactics in game situations.  There may be scrimmages during these practices.

 

United States Water Polo Membership REQUIRED

Please double check your United States Water Polo membership status as we begin to practice this summer.  ALL players are required to have a current membership. 

You must have at least a Bronze level membership ($45 per year) to participate in practices.  You can always upgrade your membership at a later date to participate in other USWP events.

Arrival & Departure Procedures: 

1. Pre-Practice Health Check MUST be completed prior to athletes arriving each day.  

2. Parents will remain in their vehicles during drop-off and pick-up.

3. Athletes, wearing a facial covering, enter one at a time while remaining 6-feet apart.

4. Athletes will enter and exit at designated areas.

5. Athletes will arrive at the facility dressed and prepared for activity.  Locker rooms will NOT be available; NO deck changing. 

6. Coaches, wearing a facial covering, will take athletes' temperature prior to entering the facility.  Temperatures must be below 100.4F.  

7. Athletes and Coaches will maintain social distance while at the facility.

8. Athletes should bring their own water bottles and training equipment.  They will not be allowed to share with their peers.  No food will be allowed. 

9. Each athlete will have their own sanitized area to place their equipment.  

10. Bathrooms may be used for emergencies, one at a time, and athletes should bring their own hand sanitizer. 

11. Athletes will be expected to depart promptly, wearing facial coverings following their practice, exiting the facility at least 6-feet apart.  

12. Athletes and Families that do not follow these rules will forfeit their ability to join these practices and no refunds will be issued.  

These rules are for the health and safety of all athletes, coaches, parents, extended family members, and other persons with compromised immune systems.  No warnings will be given, and no second chances.
