LYONS Aquatics: 2023 New Member Assessments: Long Course Season
February 27th & 28th, March 8th
Location: LTHS North Campus Pool (click here for map)
Details: Assessments will be held on February 27th from 5:30-7:00 PM, February 28th from 5:00-6:30 PM and March 8th from 5:30-7:00 PM and will consist of an evaluation of competitive swimming abilities and knowledge. Athletes will need to attend only ONE (1) day of assessments and families will be notified via email the week following their assessment. Make-up dates will be held on March 27th from 5:00-6:00 PM.
Assessments are for NEW members and athletes that DID NOT participate in our Short Course Season.
Assessments will include:
10 & Unders*:
An evaluation of all four competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle), kicking with a kickboard and Freestyle swimming, and diving.
In order to be considered for our Yellow group, athletes must be able to complete at least a 25-yard Freestyle, a 25-yard Backstroke, a 25-yard Breaststroke, a 25-yard Butterfly, and be comfortable in all depths of water.
11 & Overs*:
An evaluation of all four competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle), kicking with a kickboard, aerobic endurance, dives and turns.
In order to be considered for our 11&12-1 group, ahtletes must be able to complete a 100 Freestyle and Backstroke, 50 Butterfly and Breaststroke, and a 100 IM.
*Assessments may be altered to better understand each athlete's abilities.
Making the Club:
Athletes & Families will receive notification the following week of the results of their assessment. If an athlete is placed in a training group, you will need to go through our 2023 Long Course Registraton. If an athlete is not yet ready for our Swim Club, we can provide alternative options for swim lessons in the area. LYONS offers swim lessons during the school year.

What should my athlete bring?
Athletes will need a competitive swim suit, goggles, and their towel.
Parents will be able to observe from the balcony, but will NOT be allowed on the pool deck or in the locker rooms with athletes.
