Woodstock Dolphins Scholarship Program

 
 
Purpose:
The Woodstock Dolphins Swim Team has established a scholarship program to assist swimmers and families who are unable to afford the full expense of a commitment to competitive swimming due to financial constraints.
Note: to ensure privacy and confidentiality, all information associated with scholarship application is kept in strict confidence by the Woodstock Dolphins Swim Team Board of Directors.
 
Benefits:
a)    USA Swimming registration fee: $7, if applicant’s family is a recipient of benefits from any government subsidized program such as free or reduced lunches, which then qualifies the applicant for the USA Swimming Outreach membership price; otherwise $75. Must complete separate USA Swimming Outreach Application
b)    Membership dues: waived
c)    Meet fees: family must pay fees as they are accrued
d)    Equipment and swim suit: family is responsible for purchase of equipment (e.g., goggles, fins, etc.) and swim suit
 
Expectations:
a)     Must be able to provide documentation to support financial need-based scholarship. Example: being free or reduced lunch eligibility certificate issued by the state or show proof of annual income that falls within current year income eligibility guidelines as established by the Department of Agriculture.
b)     Scholarship period is the length of the present swim season (e.g., short course or long course) unless otherwise stipulated, scholarship compliance will be monitored on a monthly basis, and the scholarship may be extended for the following season through successful re-application
c)    Account must be kept up-to-date (no outstanding balance beyond 30 days)
d)    The number of scholarships granted will be determined by the number of registered swimmers with a ratio of 1 to 25. No more than two scholarships will be awarded per family.
e)    Scholarship recipient is expected to regularly attend practices
f)    Scholarship recipient is expected to attend and participate in meets
g)    Scholarship recipient and family are expected to participate in team functions, including mandatory fundraising activities
h)    Family is required to actively participate in volunteer roles during hosted and non-hosted events
