USA Swimming now allows 16 - 17 year olds to become Jr. Coaches. Coach Sharon and her team would develop your coaching skills while you work with the younger swimmers.
Here is what you would need to accomplish to become a Jr. Coach

Online and In-Water Safety Training

Option 1: Print the generic STSC In-Water Skills Checklist (available on your LSC website) and review the skills with an instructor certified by one of the organizations on the checklist

Option 2: Maintain a valid lifeguard certification from an approved agency

Option 3: Take the full in-water skills session from an American Red Cross instructor.

If you turn 18 while acting as a Jr. Coach, you need to complete a background check.

You would be registered as a Premium member (not Flex or Outreach) for the current registration period, the second USA registration fee is waived. You must have another coach on deck at all times.
