Welcome to ISC Short Course Season!

Amy & Mike Freel

Dear Indiana Swim Club Families,

On behalf of the Indiana Swim Club’s Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you to the 2019-2020 short course swim season. Whether you are a returning swimmer or new to the club, we are so happy that you are part of ISC!

As we enter the new season, I would like to welcome Scott Haeberle back to ISC as the Assistant Coach and Director of Development of our club for the short course season. Scott’s experience and dedication to the sport of swimming will undoubtedly have positive effects on all of our athletes. I would also like to welcome back all of our returning coaches and extend a warm welcome to our new coaches.  I am sure that the enthusiasm and experience of our coaching staff will help propel our swimmers to a season full of personal bests.

Head Coach Phil Cole retired from both ISC and South High School this past spring. Jeff LeBeau is currently serving as interim head coach. ISC conducted personnel search this past summer and interviewed several candidates to find the right fit for our club and will renew the search in 2020.

In spring of 2019, the North High School pool closed for renovations, and will be remain out of commission until spring of 2020. Thus, ISC practices will be held at South High School through October, and then will transition to Indiana University. We know that these changes can be difficult for families and are trying to do everything possible to maximize practice times and avoid complications for our members. We also know that the shortage of pool space is creating additional expenses for our families. Thank you for your understanding.

This fall, we will be having several educational and social activities, including a nutrition seminar, safe sport seminar, and a fall cookout and hayride. Stay tuned for more information on these exciting opportunities!  Additionally, we are in the process of scheduling a swim clinic for our members with the IU Swim Team in September and plan to have the IU swimmers and Pro Swimmers briefly meeting with our practice groups throughout the season.

As the season gets underway, there are several chair positions that remain unfilled. Parent representatives are needed for several groups, and ISC needs an enthusiastic Fundraising Chair. If you are interested in these opportunities, please e-mail me at President@IndianaSwimClub.com.

As in previous years, our club is hosting the ISC Winter Invitation swim meet December 6th-8th. Not only is this our flagship meet, but it is recognized as one of the premier meets in Indiana. Participation from all ISC families is necessary to make that meet a success. Please keep that weekend clear on your calendar; all families will receive information about how to sign up for volunteer shifts later in the fall.

We want every swimmer and family to enjoy their experience with the Club.  If, for any reason, you have any concerns or suggestions regarding the club, please feel free to contact me or any other Board member. Attending board meetings is also a wonderful way to stay informed and become involved.

Thank you for choosing the Indiana Swim Club.  I am confident that the family atmosphere of our club, combined with the quality of our coaching staff and program, will leave you happy with your decision.
