Welcome to the Cardinal Community Swim Club (CARD) USA Swimming Team. This New Swimmer Packet has been prepared by your Coaches and Board of Directors to help your family get off to a great start with the team.

By choosing Cardinal, you have joined one of the premiere swim teams in Indiana.  The Cardinal Swim Club is a non-profit organization offering competitive swim programs for the novice through national-caliber athlete.  Achieving Level 3 Recognition Certification by USA Swimming, the Cardinal program has been successful at the local, regional, and national level for twenty seven years.

We view swimming as good, clean, wholesome fun.  We train our swimmers to associate fun with their time spent in the sport and hope that our program starts children on a path to lifelong health and fitness.  Perhaps the greatest benefit of participating in Cardinal programs is the life skills your swimmer will develop.  These skills include self-discipline, time management, sportsmanship, and many others.  Many of our swimmers have gone on to be very successful in life, using skills they gained from their Cardinal swimming experience.

The Cardinal Coaching Staff and your Board of Directors are dedicated to the success and improvement of our team as a whole, and of each individual swimmer.  We are confident that you will enjoy the Cardinal experience and wish you success in your swimming endeavors.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

All families must pay their monthly swim dues to participate with the Cardinal Community Swim Club.  All accounts must have a $0.00 balance prior to registration for this season.

Monthly swim fees are the principal source of income.  The treasurer will send invoices to each family on the 1st of each month.  The invoices will have a detailed description of the fees due for that specific month and any past due fees.  Swim fees are due each month no later than the 27th  of each month.  There is a late charge of $20.00 for fees that are not paid in full the same month the fees are invoiced.  If such late payments are repetitive, swimmers may not be permitted to continue with their practice sessions until all amounts in arrears are paid.  The Club is dependent upon regular receipt of these funds for a substantial portion of its income; it is an essential obligation that fees are paid on time each month.  If any discrepancy or question concerning your invoice should arise, you must contact the treasurer with an explanation of the problem and they in turn will resolve the issue with the appropriate people and return the resolution to you.

Service Hours

All CARD families are required to perform 40 hours of service. Service hours apply to jobs signed up for and worked during swim meets as well as committee work. The team hosts 4 meets during the season: 1) CARD Dactacular, 2) Christmas CARD Invitational, 3) CARD/ACAC Last Chance Meet, and 4) CARD Summer Splash Meet.  Families are expected to sign up for jobs in advance of these meets and/or committee positions until they have reached their 40 hour requirement. Volunteers are vital to ensuring we can run efficient and successful meets. Without your help, this is not possible.

Service hour requirements for CARD members joining mid-season will be pro-rated based on when they join. Seven hours will be deducted from the total number of required hours based on the number of meets that have already passed at the time the family joins. For example, if a family joins after the first meet of the season, they will only be required to complete 23 hours of service. If a family joins after the first two meets of the season, they will only be required to complete 16 service hours, and so on. Additionally, if a family starts late and/or quits the team before their 40 hours of service are complete, the requirements will be similarly prorated to reflect the number of meets that were hosted during the time the family held active CARD membership.

For each meet, one person will be responsible for taking volunteer attendance and ensuring all volunteers are doing the correct job for the entire duration they signed up for. It is important to get checked in as a job participant with the attendance taker.  Those hours will then be documented on the CARD Team Unify website. An email will go out one month prior to each team meet reminding all CARD families of their volunteer responsibilities and requesting that they consider signing up for a job at the upcoming meet. Families with volunteer hours still outstanding will be alerted individually prior to the Last Chance Meet and again prior to the CARD Summer Splash Meet.

After the CARD Summer Splash Meet (the final meet of the season), families with outstanding service hours will be charged $15/hour for each hour they did not complete.

Families may opt to buy out of Volunteer Points by paying a one (1) time fee of $350 at the beginning of the season.

Committee Service

Each family is required to serve on a committee position as part of their volunteer hours commitment.  A timeframe has been provided for each committee.  This is to provide members with a period of when the committee will be active.  You must be an active member of the team during the active period of the selected committee, if you are not active during the selected committee timeframe you will still be required to perform on the committee or a be charged the $200 buyout fee for non-participation.

A 2-WEEK TRIAL IS AVAILABLE TO ALLOW NEW SWIMMERS TO THE CLUB THE TIME TO BECOME ACCLIMATED.  2-WEEK TRIAL PERIODS BEGIN ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF EACH MONTH (EXCEPT FOR MARCH AND AUGUST WHEN SWIMMING IS NOT IN SESSION).  2-WEEK TRIALS CAN BE HELD AT THE SOUTHSIDE, CENTRAL, AND DELTA LOCATIONS DURING THE FALL, WINTER, AND SPRING MONTHS AND THE TUHEY LOCATION DURING SUMMER MONTHS.  PLEASE CONTACT THE CLUB TO SET UP YOUR 2-WEEK TRIAL.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REGISTER FOR THE 2-WEEK TRIAL, PLEASE SELECT THE PAYMENT BY CHECK OPTION DURING CHECKOUT AT THE END OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS.  IT IS MUCH SIMPLER FOR THE CLUB TO NOT DEPOSIT YOUR CHECK UNTIL THE END OF THE TRIAL, RATHER THAN REFUND YOUR CREDIT CARD.  IF YOU DECIDE TO JOIN, PAYMENT CHOICE CAN BE SWITCHED TO CREDIT CARD FOR FUTURE PAYMENTS.

Membership fees are as follows:

Annual CARD Registration Fee (Sep- Aug): $120 per swimmer, $250 maximum per family.

Annual USA Swimming Registration Fee: $77 per swimmer (paid upon joining the team, and renewed each November).

Monthly swim fees based on swim group assignment for the annual swim season, adjustments will be made for swimmer's advancement.  A swimmer's group will be determined by the Head Coach and performance evaluations.

The Clubs annual budget is based on full 12-month seasonal participation of each swimmer (regardless of illness, vacations, summer plans, etc.).  If you are paying monthly fees, one day of practice constitutes payment for that month.  If you plan to go inactive for a month or more, you must notify the treasurer via email at treasurer@cardinalswimming.com to suspend billing BEFORE THE 1ST OF THE MONTH IN WHICH YOU PLAN TO GO INACTIVE, otherwise you will be required to pay in full for the month.  Billing will continue automatically each of the 12 months unless notification of suspension is provided.

The Cardinal Community Swim Club Board of Directors will strive to make themselves available to provide any type of assistance needed throughout the swim season.  The growth and well-being of the club is of the highest priority to each board member and we would like to instill the same pride in our club to all members.  The club is managed through the board's actions, but the club is made successful through each and every member's contributions.  So please pitch in and do whatever is asked of you and whatever you feel will make your child's swimming experience the best it can be.

Good luck and swim fast,
