New Info

From Coach Amy:

1.) SSC Summer Sizzler: Great job to all of our swimmers who competed over the weekend at the SSC Summer Sizzler! The coaches saw a lot of improvement in strokes, racing strategies and endurance from the first meet of the season. Your dedication into each and every practice has not gone unnoticed. We look forward to the upcoming meets to see your continued improvement .

2.) Excel Firecracker Invite (TN): The initial entry for the team travel meet to Tennessee has been sent in, and will be sent out for your review upon our acceptance to the meet. We will not be able to add any swimmers at this time. Once we have been accepted, information will be sent out to those families attending the meet regarding team activities over the weekend.

3.) Jags Invite: The initial entry for the Jags Summer Invite have been sent in. The events will be sent out once we have been given acceptance into this meet. Reminder: If your swimmer is competing at the Excel Firecracker  meet in TN, then they are NOT eligible for this meet and were not entered.

4.) Construction at CG Site: Due to the construction at the Hall of Excellence Entry, the drive that goes between the football stadium and the pool will be closed to parent drop-off/pick-up per the CG administration. Please use Door 6 which is the lot off of Morgantown Rd, by the Student Activity Center.

5.) CG Site Senior Practice Attendance: As stated by Coach Todd, Senior Team members must attend 80% of the weekly practices in order to compete in upcoming meets. Unless you have spoken to him about vacations or other circumstances.

6.) Seymour Prelims/Finals Meet: The RSVP deadline is June 15. This meet is hosted by the Seymour Swim Club and is held at Sheilds Park Pool in Seymour. This is a prelims/finals format meet. The top 16 swimmers in prelims with the fastest times will qualify for finals . All 9-10 and 8 & Under events will be Timed finals events. Please click HERE for the meet packet.

Counsilman Classic Job Sign-Ups: We need your help, BIG TIME.  We are falling extremely short of staffing the Counsilman Classic Meet.  This meet does two things for our club.  First, the club stands to profit from co-hosting this meet. The money will help fund equipment needs and the cost of our community fireworks in July.  Second, this opens the door for us with Indiana Swimming and hosting larger meets once the new pool opens.  I understand this meet is a challenge to staff due to work schedules, child care, and vacations.  We need our swim families to come together and do what we can in one last final push to fill these spots, particularly for timers and hospitality.

Here’s what we need from you:

  1. Please look at the available times via the Counsilman Classic link on Team Unify.  If you can spare any time, we would be most grateful.
  2. We need t-shirt sizes from all volunteers. Please email Heather at president@cgacswim.org the sizes of everyone in your family who will be volunteering.  I need this ASAP.
  3. We need BASKET KIDS. These kids can range in age from 12-17.  Basket Kids are young athletes who will be placing and removing the competing athletes’ baskets behind the blocks during the evening finals competition sessions.  I do not have these positions open for sign-up so you will need to email me directly.  If your swimmers are chosen to be a basket kid, please sign up to time or work in hospitality. We will need yours and your child’s t-shirt sizes.  Basket kids are needed on Wednesday through Saturday evening from 5:00 – 9:30 pm.  We will handle this on a first come, first serve basis as this is a special position due to these kids directly servicing potential future Olympians!

Please do not hesitate to contact Heather Trammell president@cgacswim.org should you need help signing up or have any questions or concerns about assisting with this meet.  We will take any help that we can get!

From the Meet Coordinator:  Reminder - Our only home meet for the long course season is the 12& Under Stars & Stripes Meet that is a one session meet that will be held on Tuesday, July 16th.  Our meets cannot succeed without the help of our swim families so please sign up to volunteer to fulfill the 1 credit that is required during the long course season.  Older swimmers that are not swimming can help time to fulfill any volunteer requirements.   Volunteer signups will be turned on Monday, June 10th at 8pm.  The option to donate a gift card will not be made available until all volunteer slots are fulfilled.  If you need help with signing up for a volunteer spot, please reach out to me at meetcoordinator@cgacswim.org

Amanda and I will be available at the pool on Monday, June 10th to help walk through the signup process if there is interest. - Holly Argiris & Amanda Lavery

#CHASESTRONG: The Smith Family of Indian Creek are friends of the CGAC family.  Chase, their 17 year old son, is fighting cancer for the 4th time. Many of you have asked how you can help.  The Smiths will be traveling to Cleveland, Ohio every week for the next few months for treatment.  The CGAC Family will be preparing snack bags for them to take each time they travel.  How can you help?  There will be a box on the table (by the folder boxes) marked for ChaseStrong donations.  We will be collecting Visa gift cards to purchase these snacks.  Any gift cards that are left over will be presented to the Smiths for their travel expenses.   If you wish to donate, please deposit Visa gift cards in that box at any time.  If you have any questions, please contact Michele De Luna, michele@inswimming.org.  Thank you on behalf of the Smith family and the CGAC family for your support.

Meet Packet/Meet Announcements: All meet packets have been uploaded for all of our swim meets scheduled for this long course season.
