Senior Group (Senior Maintenance & Senior Performance) 

The emphasis of the Senior group will be on competing in all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, underwater kicking, increasing aerobic & anaerobic capacity through increased kicking and swimming volume and intensity. Swimmers will develop individual goals and contribute towards the goals and objective of the team, develop individual race strategies, learn and practice leadership skills, learn proper nutrition for high performance, and improve mental preparation. Ability group assignments are at the coach’s discretion. Swimmers may not change or practice with more advanced ability groups without prior coach approval

Typical Practice Schedule:  After school Monday-Friday (1.5-2 hours)
and Saturday am (2.5-3 hours).

Mon, Fri am: 545-700 (swim)
Tues, Thurs am: 545-700 (weights)
Sat am: 700-950 (weights & swim)
Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs pm: 330-530 (swim)

Senior Maintenance

Practices offered: up to 6 practices per week out of 8 offered*
(*in-school practices offered- Mon PM, Tues PM, Wed PM, Thurs Pm, Fri PM, Sat AM, Tues AM, Thurs AM)
(*out of school (summer) practices offered: Mon AM, Tues AM, Thurs AM, Wed (AM/PM TBD), Fri (AM/PM TBD), Sat AM, Mon/Wed PM or Tue/Thur PM (TBD, depends on pool schedule/weight room scheduling in June/July)
Attendance expectation: 75%

Meet expectation: Compete in all meets designated by the coaching staff including the highest level championship meet that an athlete qualifies for.

This group is designed to meet the needs of athletes desiring to train and maintain their performance level throughout the summer months. The emphasis of the group includes building upon their aerobic & anaerobic capacities, speed development, advancing their skill development, and prepare for future championship meet participation. 

We do expect a wide range of physical, mental, and motivational levels in this group and will coach according to the needs of each individual. Practice goals will be geared towards individual ability and achieving USA National “AA”, “A” and “BB” time standards. Athletes are expected to have defined goals, good time management skills and a willingness to grow each day. Athletes are expected to exhibit leadership skills in and out of the pool and represent Donner Swim Club to the best of their ability.

Senior Performance

Practices offered: up to 10 practices per week (schedule may differ for individual athletes at coaches discretion.)
Attendance expectation: 90%
Meet expectatoins: Compete in all meets designated by the coaching staff including the highest level championship meet that an athlete qualifies for.

This group is a cohesive training group that works together to assist the most dedicated and motivated swimmers to reach their individual goals and compete at the highest level possible. The emphasis of this group includes increased aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, skill development, and the physical, mental, and emotional preparation required for Championship level competition. Training will include a specifically designed athletic development dryland program.

Practice goals are geared toward achieving IN Swimming Senior State time standards, USA Sectional times, and beyond. Athletes will have clearly defined goals, high aspirations, good time management skills and a willingness to pursue their dreams and goals. Swimmers will exhibit leadership skills in and out of the pool and represent Donner Swim Club to the best of their ability. Swimmers will challenge themselves in practice and need to demonstrate an ability to balance activities and school with swimming.
