Zach DeWitt

FRST Family,

Franklin Regional Swim Team is pleased to announce a new member to the coaching staff. Coach Griffin Edwards will be joining the club in an immersive fashion on August 16th with roles as Lead Launch Group Coach as well as assisting with our senior program.  Additionally, Griffin will be involved with the 11-14 Track as he enters his new roles within the Franklin Regional Swim Team.  Coach Griffin has a wealth of enthusiasm, success building an age group program, and elite relationship-building skills, These attributes helped lead FRST to target him as a “home-run hire.”

"To have someone with Head Age Group Coaching experience, combined with a love for Franklin, was a no-brainer decision for us.  Griffin brings immense enthusiasm, high expectations, and top-notch relationship abilities to our coaching staff.   Griffin knows no hours and has always been someone willing to out-plan, out-work, and out-execute others.  To say I'm confident in his abilities to help us build a perennial top tier program would be an understatement." - Coach DeWitt

Interview & Introduction | Griffin Edwards

History & Bio

Griffin Edwards begins his first season with the Franklin Regional Team after a 3-year stint as Head Age Group Coach at the Avon Community Swim Team.  While Griffin’s enthusiasm and passion for swimming are great, it’s his team-first approach in helping athletes that shines through.  Coach Griffin’s contributions to the ACST program were immense during his time.  In just a couple of short years, ACST improved a great deal from 2019 to 2021 as evidenced by their finish at the State Championships.

  • 55th place in the 2019 Short Course State Championships (11 athletes)

    • 27th place at the 2021 Short Course State Championships (12 individual qualifying athletes)

  • 49th place in the 2019 Long Course State Championships (3 athletes)

    • 28th place at the 2021 Long Course State Championships ( 5 individual qualifying athletes)

Griffin’s love for FRST and Franklin swimming go back to 2015 when he became part of the Franklin Regional Swim Team family.  During his time here, he grew both as a leader and a teammate.  He received the Grizzly Cub Leadership Award twice and was one of the passionate leaders that spearheaded the 2018, 2019 Franklin IHSAA State Runner-Up teams.  Individually, Griffin was a Junior National qualifier in the 200 Butterfly and a valued Junior National Relay athlete.  Griffin also won a state title in the 800 Free Relay and was a consistent Top 16 qualifier at the IHSAA State Championships.
