Thank you all for representing FRST at the parade! The whole community had the privilege of seeing what a great group of young athletes and parents we have.

Training Updates
 

Senior Group:

Our Senior group is beginning a difficult week of training in preparation for the Carmel Swim Club Fall Frenzy, a meet we've prepared for all fall. We look for this weekend (FRST Meet of Fall) to be a "practice or trial run," where we aim to execute great kicks and implement strokes we've been working on during practice. The coaches expect our athletes to be loud, fun, and a cheerful bunch this AM. Next week, swimmers competing at Carmel will be receiving Thursday AM off, and we'll begin to go a bit lighter in anticipation of some fast swims.  While many missed practice during Fall Break, making this an inexact science, we plan on suiting for CSC in order to make it a highlight meet.

Senior Swimmer(s) of the Month:  

Nicholas Klenner - The newcomer has been incredible at practice, posting times close to personal bests.  He's been a positive person in and out of the pool, always looking to get better and learn.  Nick has immediately become part of the team and "one of the boys."  We're really excited to see him have a breakout year.

Sarah Hoffman - No girl has had a better beginning to the season in terms of work ethic, mindset, and also performance.  Sarah has been redefining what "fast" is during practice, which comes as a welcomed narrative.  Sarah is becoming a better leader each day, and we know we'll lean on her greatly in the coming year!

Challenger and Eclipse:
We completed our first 8-week technique macrocycle of the season. We move back to our streamlined body microcycle this week.

As opposed to our normal Mental Skills Training, we will go over Race Build-Up and Post-Race Routines in order to better prepare for the upcoming swim meets.

During this week and next week, we are shifting our training focus to concentrate on the specific events that your athletes are competing in at the FRST Meet of Fall and the CSC Fall Frenzy. If your athlete is not competing at these meets, they will follow the standard plan.

Our dryland program has moved into the “Basic Strength” phase. In this phase we will build on what we developed in the “Foundation” phase and introduce some more complex resistance training.

Challenger and Eclipse Swimmer of the Month:

Swimmer of the Month for Challenger/Eclipse goes to Franco Chirinos. Franco has consistently improved his paces at practice, rarely misses practice, shows great leadership potential, and always performs to the best of his ability.

Discovery:

Lots of kick sets – we are building strength in their legs. Discovery is concentrating this week on getting ready for the upcoming meets: Starts and turns especially.

Additionally, Discovery is focusing on strokes more throughout sets.

Test set on Sat:  4x100:  everyone has been getting better by consistently repeating times at a faster pace.

Launch:

We will be practicing more stroke work, streamlines, speed and power off the walls. Also, we are preparing many kids for their first meets, since many have never swam before.
