FRST Age Group Mission Statement & Group Descriptions

"Franklin Regional Swim Team’s goal is to become the most innovative, athlete-centered, long-term athletic development program in our state.  With an “athlete-centered” goal in place, our coaches have designed a system to make our athletes successful at all levels within our sport.  It is not our goal to maximize performance at the 10 & Under level, but rather remove restricitions to allow our athletes to succeed as they grow older within the sport.  This does not mean we don't aim to be compeitive at younger ages, but we will not forsake long-term growth for short term results.  FRST athletes will receive instruction, as well as training, based specifically on their needs as an athlete. Outstanding achievement and vast improvement is our goal for all of our FRST athletes."

Below is our "Journey to Beyond," a program designed for each athletes growth over the long-term:

FRST Age Group Program

"A philosophy of long-term athletic development"

When considering athletes for group placement, our coaching staff takes many variables into consideration. Some of the key factors we consider are an athlete’s practice attendance, their daily attitude and effort, where they are in the process of physical development, their physical literacy on land (dryland training), the progress of their swimming skill set, as well as their performances in practices and competitions. In short, we use an athlete’s complete portfolio to place them in the training group that will not only challenge them appropriately right now, but also help provide the environment for long-term success.

During this process, each athlete is considered individually and their progress is discussed at length amongst the coaching staff. It is one of the most difficult things we do in coaching. While we know these decisions can be emotional for athletes and families, we encourage you to remember that it does not benefit our program to prevent your child from having opportunities that will not allow them to grow. Our primary focus is to do what is best for each athlete. We appreciate and expect your support.
