Why should my child join LCA? 

It is a low impact activity with little risk of injury and fantastic health benefits. Your child will make lifelong friends, be part of a team, learn good sportsmanship and discover what they are capable of. It is also a whole lot of fun!

 

My child likes swimming, but I don’t know if they are ready for the swim team?

Lawrence County Aquatics offers programs for swimmers at all levels.  For more info about our programs: click here.  We offer a two week trial for new swimmers.The trial period gives your child the opportunity to try swimming before committing to the full season. To qualify, you must register online and pay for one month of fees as well as the USA Swimming Annual membership. If you cancel within the first 2 weeks, you will receive a full refund. 

 

What group should I register my child for?

Can my child join the team at any time or do I have to wait for a new season/session?

Your child can start the long course (summer) season any time between April 18th- June 16th.

 

How often will my swimmer practice?

Depending on the group your swimmer is assigned to, your swimmer will be scheduled to practice three to five days a week. Although your swimmer is not required to come to every practice, please keep in mind that the more your swimmer comes the more your swimmer will improve. Am I required to join USA Swimming?

Yes, all members of LCA are required to be members of USA Swimming. USA Swimming offers two membership options, flex and premium. Please review the USA Membership Description for full details of each option: click here. 

 

Are scholarships available?

We offer scholarships for reduced monthly fees for qualified applicants- 100 volunteer hours required. Please email [email protected] for more information. Indiana Swimming also has an Outreach Program that offers reduced USA Swimming membership Fees to families that qualify. For more information: click here

 

My child is older but new to the sport of competitive swimming. Should I still register for the Red Group? Will he/she be practicing with younger swimmers?

Yes,unless your swimmer is 13 or over. After assessing each swimmer during the first week of practice, the coach may place your child in a lane with swimmers of a similar age. For new swimmers 13 and over- contact us prior to registering at [email protected] 

 

What equipment does my child need for swim practice?

Swimsuit and goggles are required. Swim caps, for females, are recommended. Females wear one piece suits and males typically wear jammer style suits. 

 

Where does LCA practice?  

LCA utilizes the JLMP in Bedford (Outdoor), Mitchell community pool (Outdoor) and the BNL pool in Bedford (Indoor).  Practice locations are determined by facility availability and weather conditions.  Location information is updated on the practice calendar: click here

 

Does my child have the opportunity to participate in swim meets? 

LCA participates in and hosts a number of meets during the season.. We strongly encourage swimmers to attend meets whenever possible and we do expect that our members will attend home meets in support of their club.  For more information: click here.
