Indiana Swimming
Level 1

Yellow (10 & under): Developmental

Yellow is the developmental level of FISH. Swimmers in this group must be able to legally swim a 100 yard Individual Medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle) without stopping. Additionally, swimmers must be able to execute a forward racing dive, a freestyle flip turn, a legal turn and finish for backstroke and breaststroke. This group prepares swimmers to enter the competitive realm of swimming by continuing development of all four strokes. Swimmers in this group will become familiar with the rules of each stroke and event. Athletes will develop a basic understanding of critical training elements, such as intervals and the use of a pace clock. This group places high importance on technical instruction and enjoyment of the time spent with teammates at practice, while helping members learn about and begin to participate in sanctioned USA Swimming competitions.
