Indiana Swimming

ALL-STARS I (Developmental)
  
EQUIPMENT: Competitive swim fins, snorkel and kickboard
             
PRACTICE SESSIONS/WEEK: 90 minute sessions, offered five to six days per week
  
This group is for swimmers who have turned age 9, have not individually qualified for divisionals/age group state, and need more focus on developing stroke technique rather than endurance.

This level incorporates:

  • Breaststroke with pull-outs off starts and turns
  • Correct ready position push off with tight streamline and breakouts
  • Butterfly with appropriate underwater dolphin kick off starts and turns
  • Learn training sets, reading pace clock, terminology, & equipment
  • Increase the number of season competition commitments
  • Transition into their first level training group depending on age, ability, and/or peer group

Should demonstrate and/or dedicate at least 3 practice days/week to the following:

  • Correct starts and ready position push off
  • 100 yard/meter free with correct turns
  • 50 yards/meters each of the four competitive strokes including legal turns
  • Begin to swim 100 yards/meters each of the four competitive strokes including legal turns

ALL-STARS II (Second Level Training Group)
  
EQUIPMENT: Competitive swim fins, snorkel and kickboard
             
PRACTICE SESSIONS/WEEK: 90 minute sessions, offered five to six days per week

This level training group is for swimmers who have turned age 9, have individually qualified for divisionals or age group state, are very close to qualifying, or demonstrated skills required for AllStars II. Ability will be evaluated by coaches if an athlete has not yet turned age 9.

This level incorporates:

  • Advancement in training intensity, focusing more on endurance, while still incorporating drills
  • Emphasis on starts/turns, incorporating proper underwater kicks and streamline
  • 200 yard/meter IM and 100 yard/meter of each stroke
  • Breaststroke with pull-outs off starts and turns.
  • Butterfly building on underwater dolphin kick off starts and turns and strength
  • Learn training sets, reading pace clock, terminology, & equipment.
  • 10 & U Divisional/State qualifying times with strong focus on technique.
  • Increase the number of season competition commitments
  • Transition into RockStars training group at age 11 depending on ability, and/or peer groups.

Should execute/demonstrate the following:

  •   200 yard/meter IM with correct turns
  •   100 yards/meters each of the four competitive strokes including legal turns in competition
  •   10 x 100 Swim @ 2:00
  •   10x 50 Kick @ 1:15
  •   500 freestyle non-stop executing flip turns
  •   200 IM in competition
