Coach Danny began swimming competitively at age seven for the Michiana Marlins and continued through his senior year at Riley High School. At Riley, Danny earned Academic All American and All American Honors, placed 11th at state in the 100 breaststroke, participated in 3rd and 4th place medley relays, and earned a state championship in the 200 freestyle relay in 2007.
Danny completed his USA Swimming certification and began coaching in 2008. Along with the Stars, Danny coaches the Swanson Sharks (summer league), private training for Innovative Endurance (triathletes), Mishawaka High School Boys/Girls swim teams, and teaches at John Young Middle School. Danny graduated from the University of Notre Dame in December 2013 with an English major and Economics minor. He thrives by working with all ages and abilities.  Danny's wife Heather Dixon is a dedicated swim coach along his side with STARS and Mishawaka High School. Heather also has a swimming  background, great passion for the sport of swimming, and commitment to the development of young individuals.

Coach Mejia is the Head Age Group coach at Michiana STARS Swimming and leads the mostly 9/10 year old swimmers of the AllStars group. She believes in positive reinforcement and continual encouragement of her swimmers. Practicing safety first and implementing core values is first in order of importance while coaching. She teaches a strong balance of technique, strength, and endurance in her athletes while developing them as individuals with resilience. Her lifetime of experience submerged in the swimming world spills over into athletes, their families, and coaches she leads daily. Coach Mejia believes in continual education and staying on the cutting edge of training and building relationships. This proves to be successful as she coaches this age group to the upper level of the state and zone championships.  
Coach Mejia was born into a swimming family and began her competitive swimming journey at eight years old with the Mishawaka YMCA. The competitive journey continued as she stair stepped her way through the Elkhart YWCA Seahorses and the Michiana Marlins finishing her senior swimming days as one of the founding members of the Fighting Irish Swim Club. Her high school swimming days were spent at Penn High School where she served as team captain her senior year. She contributed to four Sectional titles and 400 Freestyle Relay All NIC titles. 200 IM, 100 Backstroke, and 100 Butterfly were her high school events with the occasional 100 Freestyle. IHSAA State qualifications included 200 IM and 400 Freestyle Relay. She went on to swim her first year at Vincennes University with a swimming scholarship.  
Coach Mejia currently works with the Early College Academy at Penn High School during the day and resides in Elkhart, Indiana. She is married and they have raised four productive adults. Her youngest daughter, is an accomplished competitive swimmer, junior USA swimming coach, lifeguard, Swim America instructor, and undergraduate student majoring in Neuroscience. Both her sons are/were Nationally accomplished wrestlers attending private universities with wrestling scholarships. Their studies include Sports Marketing and Business. Her oldest has a competitive cheerleading background and is a 2018 graduate (B.S. Exercise Science) from the University of Indianapolis.
Andrew Bartolini Rockstars 2 & Superstars 2 Lead Coach

  • Swam competitively through high school in Rhode Island ... Andrew's high school won the team state championship all four years he was there.
Coach Andrew has been coaching at Michiana Stars since the Fall of 2015. Coach Andrew is the lead coach of the Pre-Senior and Superstars groups. He has coached swimmers who have qualified for Divisional Championships, Age Group State Championships, Open Water State Championships, Central Zone Championships, and Age Group Zone Championships. Coach Andrew is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach worked with the swim team at Notre Dame for two seasons.
Andrew swam competitively in Rhode Island through high school at Bishop Hendricken. At Hendricken, Andrew earned four varsity letters and helped the team win the RI State Championships all four years. In addition to recording two top-eight performances at the RI High School State Championships his senior year, Andrew was awarded the Outstanding Senior Swimmer, the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America, Inc. (NISCA) Award Winner for Sportsmanship, the NISCA Coach’s Award and the Bishop Hendricken High School Lou D’Abrosca Unsung Hero Award over his four years.  Andrew was one of the team captains his senior year.
Andrew is currently coordinates and teaches in the First-Year Engineering Program at the University of Notre Dame. He completed his PhD in civil engineering at the University of Notre Dame in 2019.
Seamus Lucero-Dixon Rockstars 2 & Superstars 2 Coach

Coach Seamus has been involved in the competitive swim community for 17 years and counting. He began swimming at the age of 7 and finished his career as a racer after his freshmen year season at the University of Denver. Seamus swam varsity at Penn High School all four years where he was elected captain. He was also a two-time MVP and a state finalist in all four events his senior year. Those relays still hold some NIC, sectional, pool, and school records, but Seamus hopes to watch those records be broken and, he adds, “by kids that I coach.” Seamus was a part of the 1st class at Penn High School to go undefeated in the regular season and sectionals all four years. He walked on to the team at the University of Denver and retired after one season.

Seamus was in the first class of Michiana Stars swimming in 2014 and has been a part of the coaching staff since 2017. He was also an assistant coach for the Swanson Sharks and the John Adams High School Girls’ swim team.

Coach Seamus is currently enrolled at IUSB where he will be finishing his degree in Psychology.

Lotta Barnes All-Stars Coach

Coach Lotta began swimming at the age of five for Malmö Kappsimnings Klubb, in her hometown of Malmö, Sweden. Throughout her swimming career, Lotta has represented Sweden in several international Championships, including European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympic Championships. Lotta moved from Sweden to Dallas, TX, to swim for Southern Methodist University (SMU) on a swimming scholarship, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003. At SMU Lotta swam on US National winning relays, finished 6th  at the NCAA in the 200 free, and earned All-American status all 4 years.  
Lotta works as a senior graphic designer at the University of Notre Dame, and has been coaching at Michiana STARS Swimming since January of 2018. Lotta is currently a AllStars, 10 & under coach. Her twins, Max and Molly, are both swimming for Michiana Stars. Her husband, Steve, is a highly accomplished competitive swimmer and National Champion with many talents who grew up in this area swimming for Michiana Marlins.
