Coach Braden began his swimming career with NASA while in elementary school under Coach Joe Keller. He was part of the first Northridge High School undefeated NLC swim season in both dual meets and the conference championship for the Raider boys in 1998-1999, and the first Sectional win in 2000. Coach Braden was a freshman when the team started an undefeated NLC dual meet and conference meet championship record that lasted over 15 years. He was a multi-year recipient of Academic All American, NLC All Conference swimmer, and was team captain as a Junior and Senior.

After High School and due to the many lessons learned from swimming, including goal setting and leadership skills, Coach Braden earned a Navy ROTC Scholarship to Purdue University. He coached swimming during several summers with a traveling swim camp in Detroit, MI and Mount Holyoke, MA, in between summer trainings with the U.S. Navy. Coach Braden focused on training for U.S. Navy Special Operations, and became an Officer in the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Community, also known as the bomb squad. After active duty service, He and his spouse Krystal moved back home to Indiana, where He obtained his M.B.A. from The University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.

Coach Braden and Krystal now live in Middlebury raising their 4 children, and are enjoying being close to family and friends. He volunteers time with Notre Dame business students as an advisor in the Meyer Business on the Frontlines program, and is responsible for leading a manufacturing facility in Elkhart, IN. He was recognized as a Michiana 40 under 40 with the Class of 2020.

Coach Braden loves being back at the pool where he spent countless hours as a youth swimmer. He believes that swimming can provide increased self-confidence and the foundational teaching for many life skills beyond just stroke technique. Positive experiences with goal setting, work ethic, commitment, follow thru, team work, failure and winning, good sportsmanship, etc can prepare swimmers for lifelong achievement and develop them into outstanding members of our society, while building lifelong relationships and fun!

Coach Shelly LaLime

Elementary Bronze/Silver Lead Coach/Middle School Assistant

Email: [email protected]

Shelley began swimming under Joe Keller for NASA back in the 1990’s, her love for swimming started very young. She was a member of several NLC championship teams and Sectional championship teams through out high school. Even after high school she continued to give swim lessons, watching kids learn the strokes and improve is truly her passion when it comes to coaching. As she continued her education reached her goal of getting her Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, she still enjoyed teaching a lesson every now and again. Much of her strong values and discipline in her life she accredits to the coach she had and the NASA program. Her goal is to continue that legacy for every kid who goes through her group!

Shelley has been married for 15 years to Cory and they have 3 children Maddie 18, Carson 6 and Hayden 6. Her biggest adventure so far in life is being a mom and adopting her youngest two from Ethiopia where she spent almost  2 months going through the process. Without the discipline and drive provided by swimming programs she isn’t sure she would have made it that long by herself in a foreign country. Her two youngest children are involved with NASA  and love the time with friends and learning how to swim better. When she is not at the pool she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym with friends and working on ways to help the orphanage her kids were in, in Ethiopia.
