Virtual Distance Challenge

The Virtual Distance Challenge (VDC) is a program by Indiana Swimming to promote distance events across the state. The "virtual" part comes from the ability of swimmers to compete in distance events at any meet (sanctioned or unsanctioned) during a certain period and have their times ranked against other swimmers of the same single age and gender across entire the state. The events that are officially part of the VDC are the 1000 and 1650 Freestyle, and the 400 IM.

Noblesville Swim Club provides an opportunity for our swimmers to participate in the VDC by hosting a sanctioned meet during which we offer all of the events from the VDC over a 2 day period. In addition to those events, we also offer the 500 Freestyle, 200 Butterfly, 200 Backstroke, and 200 Breaststroke. This provides an opportunity for swimmers to swim events that may not normally be offered for their age group, or that may be required to obtain or improve their IMX scores.

For the 2019-2020 short course season, we are hosting our Virtual Distance Challenge meet on December 20-21. The Friday events are the 1000 and 1650 Freestyle, and the Saturday events are the 400 IM, 500 Freestyle, 200 Butterfly, 200 Backstroke, and 200 Breaststroke. The warm-ups for Friday will start at 5 PM and events will start at 6 PM, with an estimated end time of 7:30 PM. The warm-ups for Saturday will start at 1 PM and events will start at 2 PM, with an estimated end time of 3 PM.

All swimmers are asked to provide their own lane timer for their events. Swimmers in the 1000 Freestyle, 1650 Freestyle, or 500 Freestyle, are asked to provide their own lap counter. All adult volunteers must have a Level 3 background check through Noblesville Schools.

If you have registered for this event, but are unsure if it is appropriate for your swimmer, please contact your swimmer's coach.
