Coaching Staff
Scott Johnson Head Senior Coach

Coach Johnson designs and oversees the training structure for the senior team. In his time as senior coach at PCA, the group has improved in performance at the state meets each season since PCA begain in 2016. Senior swimmers under Scott's guidance have achieved divisional, state, speedo sectional and futures level time standards. Coach Johnson's philosophy is based on acheiving maximum performances at peak competition periods. Through the training plan, Scott desires to push athletes to grow in personal confidence and take ownership of their workouts in order to achieve goals. 

Previously, Coach Johnson served as a coach for Avon Community Swim Team from 2005-2010, including being Head Age Group Coach from 2008-2009. During his career at ACST, coach Johnson produced individual state champions and led the age group team to four consecutive Top 10 finishes in the state meet. 

Coach Johnson also serves as Head Coach for Plainfield High School swimming and diving, a position he has held since 2016-17 season, after a long tenure as assistant high school coach from 2003-2016. 

Scott was a mutliple event state finalist in high school and was a member of two school record relay teams. Scott swam collegiately at the University of Lousville as well as IUPUI. 

He resides in Plainfield with his wife Amanda and daughters, Lainey and Lillian. 

 

Elizabeth Woodruff Executive Director/Head Age Group Coach

Coach Woodruff designs and oversees training structure for our Age Group program. In her time as PCA age group coach, Liz has led PCA to improving team scores at 3 consecutive Age Group State meets. 

Elizabeth is a Plainfield Swimming alumn and is excited to give back to the community program. Competitive swimming has been a part of her life since she began with the Indy Dolphins at the age of 8. During her time at PHS, Liz won multiple individual and relay events in county, conference, and invitational meets. Coach Woodruff was a sectional finalist all four years and still ranks near the top in PHS history in many events. Her primary events were the 200 IM, 100 Butterfly, and 100 Backstroke. Liz was an integral part of PCA's summer championship success in it's first ever season of competition. Coach Woodruff also serves as assistant coach for the Plainfield High School swimming and diving team. 

Elizabeth is a Personal Trainer certified through the American Council of Exercise. She has studied Nutrition and Exercise Science at IUPUI and has a passion for developing athletes both in the water and through dry-land training. Coach Woodruff is also a certified Lifeguard Instructor through American Red Cross. 

Elizabeth currently resides in Plainfield with her husband, Stephen, also a Plainfield Swimming alumn, and their daughters Jayda and Norah. 

Chris Tice Assistant Age Group Coach

Coach Chris joined the PCA staff in the early spring of 2018. Chris graduated from Plainfield High School in 2013 where he swam for all four years of his high school career. During this time and prior to entering high school Chris swam for the Avon Community Swim Team where he participated in individual and team events at the State and Zone level. Chris was a high school state qualifier his freshman and junior year of high school participating as the butterfly leg of the medley relay and freestyle lead of the 400 free relay. Chris’ most notable swims were the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly where he was a top finisher at County, Conference, and Sectional swim meets. Chris also jointly held the Plainfield High School medley relay record from 2012 to 2017.

 

At ACST, Coach Tice was a State and Zone qualifier on the age group team and a State qualifier on the senior team all seven years he swam for them. Again, his most notable events being the freestyle and butterfly swims. Chris had multiple individual top finishes in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 200 butterfly for the team and participated on many State Championship relay teams.

 

Collegiately, Coach Tice studied Global Health at Indiana University Bloomington from 2013 to 2017. Chris graduated from IU in May 2017 and currently works as an operations manager at UPS. He plans to continue his education in the not-too distance future.

Hallie Jones Assistant Age Group Coach

Coach Jones joined PCA staff in the spring of 2018. She is a 2016 graduate of Avon High School where she was a 4 year varsity swimmer. In her time at AHS, Hallie was a multiple year state qualifier and individual sectional champion in multiple events, highlighted by her winning the 100 freestyle 3 times. Hallie was a member of several relay teams who competed in the state finals. 

Hallie competed as a club swimmer for Avon Community Swim Team from 2009-2016. At ACST, Hallie was a state and zone qualifier as an age-grouper and competed in the Senior State meets from 2014-2016. She finished her club career as one of the most decorated swimmers in ACST history. 

Collegiately, Hallie swam at Azusa Pacific University in California in 2017.

Hallie is a full-time student at IUPUI where she is pursuing a degree in Biology. 

Lise Moore Assistant Age Group Coach

Coach Moore was a club swimmer at Indian Aquatic Club in Monroe, LA and Bengal Tiger Aquatic Club in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a Louisiana age group state champion. As a high school swimmer she was a Junior National Champion in the 200 IM and a Junior National finalist in 4 other events. She was a Phillips 66 National Championship qualifier in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.  Lise swam collegiately at Mary Baldwin College. 

Coach Moore lives in Plainfield with her husband Ben and her daughters, Maddie and Olivia. 

 

 

Ben Moore Assistant Age Group Coach
 
 
Coach Moore is a former high school swimmer.  At Decatur Central his was a four year varsity letterman in swimming and played multiple sports.  He continued his athletic career at Hanover College. He is in his nineteenth year in public education as a teacher, coach and administrator.  While teaching at Decatur Township, he coached middle school and high school swimming as well as cross country. He is currently the Director of the Plainfield Opportunity Academy at PHS.  He Ben resides in Plainfield with his wife Lise and daughters Madeleine and Olivia. 
Jennifer Detlefsen Lessons Head Coach

Coach Detlefsen has been with PCA since its beginning in 2016. Jennifer builds the curriculum for our lesson progam and oversees the day to day operation of the sessions. Jennifer has built a system that is effective in giving young swimmers a progression of learning from the very basics of water familiarity up through all 4 strokes development. Through the past few years it has been evident that our swimmers who progress through Jennifer's program have been well equipped for the developmental team or club team.
