2019 PCA Invitational

Elizabeth Woodruff

PCA Club Families,

Before I get into the details of our athlete’s accomplishments at our PCA invitational, on behalf of our board members and coaching staff, “THANK YOU!”  Our meet was a huge success and we simply could not have done it without all of you!  I received nothing but positive feedback from other coaches and athletes.  I am very proud of how our program conducted the entirety of the meet.  We have very dedicated and passionate parents and it shows!  PCA swimmers showed great sportsmanship and appeared to enjoy competing in their home pool. Teamwork makes the dream work!

2019 PCA Invitational Recap

In this year’s PCA Invitational, our team had a record number of athletes on deck to compete (77 in total) and it made for a fun experience for our athletes and our coaches.  Our women scored a total of 2,455.5 points and placed 1st out of 11 teams.  Out men scored a total of 848 points and placed 3rd to great competition from the Terre Haute Torpeedos and Avon Community Swim Team.  PCA took home 1st place finishes in 31 individual events and in 11 relay events.  I am excited to see what we accomplish next year!

Coaches Comments

Coach Scott Johnson

Senior swimmers were strong in number at our PCA Invite and we had a strong performance overall in the water. Our kids stepped up and put forth tremendous efforts at the end of a tough week of training. Highlights of the meet include club records broken by Nicole Abell, Taylor Brackney and Kylie Knutson. Other swimmers with notable time drops included Ethan Ponder, Samantha Meier and Cole Rivers. Above all, I was most proud of the "team" mentality exhibited by our swimmers. There looked to be a lot of fun had on the deck and they did a great job supporting each other!

Coach Liz Woodruff

Our Tsunamis came into the meet this past weekend out of a highly challenging practice week.  Despite the jump up in yardage and effort, this group of athletes had some impressive time drops and displayed great sportsmanship and leadership, especially with our newer team members.  Highlights of the meet would include Averie Keating setting a new club record in the 100 freestyle and in her first experience swimming the 200 butterfly.  Shout out to Megan Siereveld who dropped time in ALL of her events, including a 15 second drop in the 200 IM. We also had outstanding drops by Brecken Jones in the 500 freestyle and by Talan Andersch in the 100 butterfly.  Great job, Tsunamis!

Coach Chris Tice

I’m very pleased with all my Tidal swimmers and their performances at the PCA Invitational this past weekend. A number of Tidals dropped time in their events and I’m very proud to see their hard work paying off. Special shout out to Mya, Payton, Maddie and Aubrie who set the club record in the 10 and Under 200 Medley Relay! Another major highlight I’d like to note from this meet was the exceptional camaraderie displayed by Jaxon Russell this weekend. To those of you who were unaware, we housed a young unattached swimmer from Illinois who goes by the name Landon. Jaxon and Landon instantly hit things off and the pair were thick as thieves by the end of the meet. I’m very pleased to see that kind of camaraderie and sportsmanship from one of our Tidals!

Coach Lise Moore

The Breakers had 13 swimmers compete at the PCA Invitational. We had a lot of great swims and scored a total of 453 points as a group. Ella Wood dropped time in every event and earned a Divisional cut in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breaststroke. Maddie Moore had an impressive time drop of 29 seconds in the 100 fly.

Coach Ben Moore

The Swells group had a strong showing at our home invitational.  Several swimmers competed in their first PCA swim meet.  This group included: Kylie Beightol, Yilei Cheng, Hudson Helton, Lucy Hummel, Neela Nattam, Izaac Straw and Abby Thorne.  It was impressive to see so many swimmers in this group racing in multiple events and relays.  Eli Eash, Maddie Western, Reagan Walters, Lainey Johnson, Aubrie Keating and Olivia Moore were there as well for PCA.  Highlights of the meet included Lainey's club record in the 8u 100 Breastroke, Olivia's 8u club record in the 100 Backstroke, and Aubrie's anchor leg to set a club record in the 10u 200 Medley Relay.

Overall, PCA had an impressive weekend of hosting and competition!!  We are excited to see what we accomplish in our next meet, at PURDUE!  Great job, PCA!
