WTSC Groundhog Invite – Our final major hosted event of the season is almost here, the WTSC Groundhog Invitational (January 31-February 2 @ NCHS). The meet is shaping up to have a quality field of guest teams and of course, our swimmers are always ready to roll in our home pool. Thank you to all WTSC parents and families for stepping up to fill your shifts for this weekend. WTSC meets have a great reputation throughout the state and that is because of your time, energy and dedication to the team. We appreciate everything you do and are looking forward to another great weekend of hosting and racing. Below are a few important meet details before our swimmers hit the water.

  • Warmup Schedule – This meet will feature all swimmers in the same session, making for an exciting team atmosphere and friendly timeline. Friday night warmups will be at 4:45pm with the meet starting at 5:30pm. Saturday and Sunday will have 8am warmups with the meet starting at 9am. Please have your swimmers on deck 10 minutes prior to the start of warmups. The warmup information listed here as well as an order of events are posted on the meet page on our website, FYI.
  • Worker Shifts & Entries – Please review your shift assignments for the weekend prior to the meet starting so you know where you need to be and when you need to be there. If you have any last-minute questions about your shifts, please speak with WTSC Business Manager Jennifer Buddenbaum. Entries for this weekend are posted online and at the pool. If you have any questions about events or entries, please speak with your group coach.
  • Team Uniform – All WTSC swimmers should wear their team suit or a plain black suit and red caps. Team suits are available from Elsmore Swim Shop at their 96th Street location. Caps are available at practice from the coaches ($5 each latex; $10 each silicone). All cap charges will be billed to your family account. Also, all swimmers are strongly encouraged to wear red team shirts on Friday and Sunday and black team shirts on Saturday.
  • Day Off – As we traditionally do after a large hosted meet, there will be no practice for any training groups on Monday, February 3.

Good luck this weekend to all WTSC swimmers and families and once again, thank you for your time, energy and dedication to our team. Have fun, swim fast and as always, GO WTSC!

February & March Practice Schedule – A practice schedule for the remainder of the short course season has been added under the “Practice Schedule” tab on our website. All dates and times are subject to change, and any changes will be communicated ASAP. Please follow this document carefully and speak with your group coach if you have any questions.

Northside Invite Distance – Our traditional late-season showdown with some of the best competition in the state, the Northside Invite, is fast approaching. As we have done in past years, WTSC will host the Friday night distance events (February 21 @ NCHS; warmups @ 4:45pm / meet @ 5:30pm) and this year, the Saturday and Sunday events will be at Hamilton Southeastern HS (see below). Unlike other WTSC hosted events, our swimmers will not be pre-entered in this meet. If your swimmer(s) would like to participate in this event, our in-house registration deadline will be Monday, February 10. We will need help running this short but sweet session of racing in the usual positions (officials, timers, Colorado & computer operator, etc.) and a small job signup will be available closer to the event. If your swimmer(s) will be competing in this session, please step up and fill a shift. And please note that if you intend to swim additional days of this meet – Saturday and/or Sunday in addition to Friday – you need to sign up for both separate events. Please speak with your group coach if you have questions about this event.

Northside Invite – This is the companion piece to the Northside Invite Distance (see above), the Northside Invite (February 22-23 @ Hamilton Southeastern HS). This meet is appropriate and encouraged for all Whitecaps, Breakers, Crest and Tsunami swimmers. Event selection is now live for this event on the team website, and our in-house deadline will be Monday, February 3. If you intend to swim additional days of this meet – Friday in addition to Saturday and/or Sunday – you need to sign up for both separate events. Please speak with your group coach if you have questions about this event.

PIKE Last Chance Meet – Online registration and event selection is now open for the PIKE Last Chance Meet (March 1 @ Pike HS). This meet is appropriate for all Whitecaps, Breakers, Crest, Tsunami and Senior swimmers and is a perfect opportunity to take one last shot and Divisional and State cuts or simply race one last time before the end of the season. Our in-house deadline to sign up for this event will be Friday, February 21. Please speak with your group coach if you have questions about this event.
