North Central Protocols – Last week was a big week for WTSC as our swimmers returned to the North Central. As we reacclimate to our home pool please follow our established safety protocols closely, particularly the prompt picking up of our swimmers. A member of our coaching staff must wait until all swimmers are picked up so if a ride is late, that coach is late getting home to his/her family, too. No swimmer should be picked up any later than 10 minutes after the scheduled end of their practice. A few additional points of emphasis are as follows:

  • All swimmers should come and go from NC via Door 24, which is the main athletics entrance.
  • No swimmer should be dropped off more than 10 minutes before the start of their practice or picked up any later than 10 minutes after their practice. Please be prompt in picking up your swimmers.
  • Only swimmers, coaches and lifeguards are allowed in the building at this time.
  • Swimmers must wear a mask at all times when not in the pool.
  • Swimmers should come and go from the pool in their swimsuits. Locker rooms are available for restroom purposes only.
  • All drinking fountains at NC are turned off. Swimmers should bring their own water bottles and not share water bottles with teammates.

The use of any facility is dictated by the current public health conditions and specifically for us, the Marion County Health Department. Any changes to the practice schedule for any reason will be communicated ASAP. The WTSC Board of Directors and coaching staff offers our sincere gratitude and appreciation for sticking with us through these many months of alternative practice arrangements. Thank you for your support of our team.

BBSC Circle City Classic – We are looking forward to competing in the BBSC Circle City Classic (January 30-31 @ Brownsburg HS) this weekend. This meet will be a timed finals event with three sessions per day: 10&Under, 11-12 and 13&Older. An updated entry has been sent to the host club and entries for this event are now closed. Entries can be reviewed online, and a meet schedule and COVID protocol documents can be found on the meet page on our website. As was the case with the Mudsock Invitational (see below) all swimmers will need to fill out a pre-meet COVID waiver before this event. A link to this waiver is enclosed HERE and has been posted on the meet page on our website. Also posted on the meet page is a link to meet apparel (T shirts, hoodies, etc.). More information will be distributed after it is received from the host club.

FAST Mudsock Recap – WTSC swimmers got 2021 off to a great start at the FAST Mudsock Invitational. An updated Honor Roll has been posted on the club website but there were several performances that deserve special shout-outs here. First and foremost, congratulations to Grady Mosby who added his name to the Honor Roll for the first time with his first career Divisional cut in the 50 Freestyle. Sarah McPherson picked up her second Age Group State cut of the season in the 50 Breaststroke. And the following swimmers picked up new Divisional cuts for the season: David Buening (100 Freestyle), Zachary Bumps (50 Freestyle), Jack Campbell (100 & 200 Freestlye; 200 IM), Katie Countryman (200 Breaststroke), Sebastian Granados (100 Freestyle; 50 & 100 Backstroke; 50 Butterfly), Emily Hedlund (50 Freestyle), Leah Kiefer (100 Freestyle), Elaina Spicer (100 Backstroke) and Samantha Washburn (100 Backstroke). Check out the Honor Roll for these highlights and many more from a successful weekend in Fishers.

Congratulations – WTSC is proud of Jack Steadham for a record-breaking performance over the weekend. Jack set a new Circle City Conference and Bishop Chatard varsity record in the 100 Backstroke at his conference meet. Keep up the hard work and way to go Jack!

Kroger Rewards Program – Thank you to our WTSC families who have participated in the Kroger Community Rewards program and if you have yet to sign up, please consider doing so. It is as simple as can be: Buy groceries and help support our team. To use the program, visit Kroger.com and login into your Kroger account or setup a new one. Once logged in, search for WT SWIM CLUB or the code CN087 and click “Enroll.” New users will need to create an account which includes some basic personal information, a valid email address and a rewards card. Customers must have a valid rewards card to link to the program, which can be picked up at the customer service counter at any Kroger. A valid rewards card must be swiped, or phone number associated with the Kroger account must be used for purchases to count towards the Kroger Community Rewards Program.

Amazon Smiles – WTSC is also setup as part of the Amazon Smiles program. This simple program allows you to support WTSC and your favorite charities while purchasing items via your Amazon accounts. Click HERE for more information on the program or speak with WTSC Business Manager Jennifer Buddenbaum if you have questions.
