Business Manager – WTSC is pleased to announce that Julie Spicer is our new club business manager. Julie is a familiar face to all WTSC families and has filled many roles in her time with the club. We welcome her commitment and expertise to this new position.

Coaching Staff – Some things are changing with the WTSC coaching staff. Coach Kaitlyn McPherson will be scaling back her participation with the club due to a new job opportunity (congrats Kaitlyn). We are pleased to have Kaitlyn remain on our staff and pleased to announce that Coach Jacque Freeman will move into the lead coach role for the Bronze Group. Coach Jacque has done a great job with our Riptide program which will now be led by Coach Isaiah Huisman. Coach Isaiah is excited to bring his knowledge of technique and love of teaching to the Riptides. These transitions will take place over the next two weeks, giving the new lead coaches an opportunity to work with the old lead coaches and get familiar with their new groups. Finally, we welcome Coach Thomas Nagel to the WTSC staff. Coach Thomas will work with the Riptide group starting next week.

PIKE Invitational – Our entries for the PIKE Fall Invitational (October 29-31 @ Pike HS) have been accepted by the host club and are available for review online and at the pool. This meet is now closed. Please speak with your group coach if you have questions about this event. An informational email will be sent to all participating families next week.

WTSC Holiday Champs – We are looking forward to hosting one of the premiere fall meets on the Indiana Swimming schedule, our own Holiday Champs Invitational (November 19-21 @ North Central HS). This meet offers a unique prelims/finals format for all ages featuring some of the best teams in the Midwest. Much more information about Holiday Champs will come out in the next few weeks but for now, take note of the following items:

  • This is a hosted meet and is subject to the worker requirements described in your registration packet. WTSC has an outstanding reputation as an event host and that is thanks to you, our awesome families. We will need you back in action to run another quality WTSC event. A job signup for Holiday Champs is coming soon.
  • As with all major hosted events, all WTSC Senior, Gold, Silver and Bronze swimmers have been pre-entered. If you have conflicts with this event, please visit the meet page and adjust your days of participation by the end of the day Monday (October 25).
  • A meet schedule and order of events document has been posted to the meet page on our website.
  • Please speak with your group coach if you have questions about this event.

Barn Party – We are looking forward to our traditional fall barn party from 6-9pm on Friday, November 5 at Eagle Forge Farm in Westfield. This is a great time featuring hot dogs, bonfires and hayrides for the kids. A signup page is available on the team website, where you can commit your family to attend just as you would sign up for a meet. The cost is $5 per person; maximum of $20 per family. If you have multiple swimmers, please commit to attend the event using one swimmer only and in the comment box, please note the total number of people attending with your group. Additional details including pitch-in requests and directions to Eagle Forge Farm can be found on the event page on our website. Please save the date and join us for this lasting WTSC tradition.

Z-Freeze Invitational – The final piece of our short course meet schedule has been confirmed and we are looking forward to attending the Z-Freeze Invitational (January 14-16 @ Westfield Aquatic Center) at the new aquatic center in Westfield. This event has been added to our website and yes/no commitments are now open. More information about this meet will be available closer to the date.

Safe Sport Courses – Thank you to all WTSC families who have completed the new swimmer and parent Safe Sport courses. Each person that completes these courses gets us closer to achieving Safe Sport Recognized status. To complete the courses, visit the “Safe Sport” tab on our website and click the “Instructions for NEW Safe Sport Courses” link. The link will give you step-by-step directions. The athlete course is for swimmers 12&Older, FYI. Also, when prompted, make sure to tag Washington Township Swim Club as your club and Indiana Swimming as your LSC.
