Bronze (formerly Developmental) Group These one-on-one lessons are designed to meet the needs of beginning swimmers who are acclimated to water and ready to begin learning competitive strokes. These lessons also serve those who want to explore swimming but who are not ready for the commitment of a fully competitive group, and those athletes who are preparing to become competitive swimmers. Athletes in each session of this group will have the opportunity to swim one-on-one with an instructor for 1/2 hour 1 day per week for 4 weeks. Competitive Levels Silver (formerly Bronze) Gold (formerly Gold) Platinum (formerly Championship)Senior (High School) Silver Group The Silver group is the initial competitive group for ACST. This group is broken into two subgroups: Develomental and Transitional. Silver Developmental targets the beginning swimmer's technical and physical advancement. Silver Transitional goes further into a technical understanding of the four strokes while beginning to incorporate some increased swimming to make the technical teachings a permanent part of the athlete’s stroke. The group meets thee days per week for one hour. Members of both Silver groups are encouraged to attend appropriate meets. Gold Group The Gold group serves to further develop intermediate swimmers’ technical advancement. The group meets up to five days per week for an hour and half. The group goes further into a technical understanding of the four strokes while beginning to incorporate some increased swimming to make the technical teachings a permanent part of the athlete’s stroke. Training will include a half hour of dryland to increase the athlete's aerobic base. Members of this group are expected to attend meets and are required to attend any championship meets for which the athletes qualify. Platinum Group The Platinum group continues working on stroke technique, breathing patterns, competitive racing turns and starts. Training sets provide an aerobic base for the athletes. In this group athletes practice 2 hours per night up to 6 days per week. Practice is broken down in separate sections for dryland training, technique training, and training sets. Workout lanes are assigned based on the athlete’s ability to make intervals during training sets. Members of this group are expected to attend meets and are required to attend any championship meets for which the athletes qualify. Senior Group The senior group is in place to serve high school athletes. Athletes in the senior training group are focused on aerobic, anaerobic and strength training, technical excellence, mental preparation and nutritional guidelines. Members of this group are expected to attend meets and must compete in championship meets for which they qualify. Two practices per day are typically offered for the senior group during the week. Middle school athletes may be invited by the senior coach to participate in the senior practices depending on their capabilities. In these rare cases, the senior coach will discuss this option with the swimmer and the parents to decide if it is appropriate for the given athlete."
