Jon Karr Head Coach - Senior Team

The 2022-2023 season will begin Coach Karr's 18th year with ACST. As an athlete he swam and graduated from Columbus North High School and Auburn University.  In high school he was a six time Indiana High School state champion, including 3 straight state titles in the 100 backstroke.  He finished his high school career helping Columbus North to a team state championship in 1998. While at Auburn he was a 6 time All-American and a member of the 1999 National Championship team.  He was also a member of an SEC championship and record setting 400 Medley relay team.  His swimming career culminated when he competed in the 2000 Olympic Trials back home in Indianapolis.

In his tenure as a coach of ACST he has shown that he is committed to both ACST and Indiana Swimming. He has become ASCA level 2 certified, and attends many professional conferences and seminars. Coach Karr has also represented ACST as both an assistant and a head coach at Indiana Swimming sponsored camps. He has also been a member of the Indiana Zone Team’s coaching staff. He has also been honored by his peers by being selected 2010 Indiana Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year and 2014 and 2016 Indiana High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year. During that span his Avon High School Teams finished as state runner-up in 2014 and 3rd place finishes in 2015 and 2016.

In his 17 years at Avon his athletes have consisted of several state champions, state record holders, national Top 16 finishes, 3 National Junior Team qualifiers, 1 Junior World Championship top 5 finish, and a national high school record holder.

Coach Karr would like to thank you for being a valued member of our team. He knows what it takes to be successful in this sport, and he is thrilled for the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience with the parents and athletes of ACST.

Brayton Allen Head Age Group Coach (Lead Gold Coach)

The 2022-2023 season begins Coach Brayton's third season with ACST. We are happy to have his high energy and experience here at ACST.  In High School as a swimmer, his leadership and athletic abilities were on diplay and resulted in being a team captain and winning high point awards at Decatur Central High School.

He graduated in 2015 and started at Franklin College. In 2017, he found himself back in the pool as a swim coach, and that is where his coaching journey began. In 2019 he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with Fitness and Coaching minors. He has been using his degree as his approach to the sport of swimming because he believes education is the foundation for the strongest swimmers. He like to focus specifically on the biomechanics of movement, the different physiologic components that the sport can include, and hit hard on the importance of fuel and recovery of the body.

He has really enjoyed the educational piece of coaching and has decided to go into teaching. He is currently a substitute teacher for Avon High School and working toward earning his teaching license over the next couple years. His favorite and most meaningful personal achievements he has earned as a coach so far is receiving a personally written letter and getting recognition at a scholarship banquet as a mentor and influencer of student athletes. We are excited for our athletes to be coached and mentored by Brayton.
Parks Jones Lead Platinum Coach

We are excited to have Parks coaching at ACST. Parks began swimming at ACST when he was 12 years old.  He also swam for Avon High School for 4 years.  During his time competing at Avon High School, Parks was a 2x State Champion in the 200 Freestyle and was also a 2x Runner Up in the 500 Freestyle.  Parks was a part of the 2014 Boys High School team that finished 2nd at State and the 2015 Boys High School Team that finished 3rd at State.

After swimming at Avon, Parks swam for 4 years at the University of Arizona.  During his time at Arizona Parks competed in the Pac 12 Conference Championships each year an also qualified for the NCAA Championships on 2 occasions as well. Parks also competed in the Olympic Trials in 2016 in the 200 Meter Freestyle and 400 Meter Freestyle.

Parks understands what being an Avon man means and looks forward to helping our young athletes develop into great athletes and great people.

Mark Santiago Lead Bronze and Silver Coach

A current student at Butler University, Mark has been a life long ACST swimmer. He came through our age group program and left a lasting impact on the Avon High School team. As an athlete mark was one of the hardest workers on the team, and certainly earned his way to the podium at high school sectionals. Mark alway led by example and put his team first. Mark was also one of ACST's best Developmental instructors during his time in high school. His experience with teaching young kids in the pool certainly gives him an advantage in this position. We look forward to Mark working with our young athletes. He will certainly teach them how to become better swimmers and begin to show them what being a great teammate looks like.
