Jonathan Karr Head Coach - Senior Team

The 2017-2018 season will begin Coach Karr's 13th year with ACST. As an athlete he swam and graduated from Columbus North High School and Auburn University.  In high school he was a six time Indiana High School state champion, including 3 straight state titles in the 100 backstroke.  He finished his high school career helping Columbus North to a team state championship in 1998. While at Auburn he was a 6 time All-American and a member of the 1999 National Championship team.  He was also a member of an SEC championship and record setting 400 Medley relay team.  His swimming career culminated when he competed in the 2000 Olympic Trials back home in Indianapolis.

In his tenure as a coach of ACST he has shown that he is committed to both ACST and Indiana Swimming. He has become ASCA level 2 certified, and attends many professional conferences and seminars. Coach Karr has also represented ACST as both an assistant and a head coach at Indiana Swimming sponsored camps. He has also been a member of the Indiana Zone Team’s coaching staff. He has also been honored by his peers by being selected 2010 Indiana Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year and 2014 and 2016 Indiana High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year. During that span his Avon High School Teams finished as state runner-up in 2014 and 3rd place finishes in 2015 and 2016.

In his 13 years at Avon his athletes have consisted of several state champions, state record holders, national Top 16 finishes, 3 National Junior Team qualifiers, 1 Junior World Championship top 5 finish, and a national high school record holder.

Coach Karr would like to thank you for being a valued member of our team. He knows what it takes to be successful in this sport, and he is thrilled for the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience with the parents and athletes of ACST.

Parks Jones Head Age Group Coach

Coach Parks will be returning to ACST for the 2019-2020 Short Course Season.  Parks began swimming at ACST when he was 12 years old.  He also swam for Avon High School for 4 years.  During his time competing at Avon High School, Parks was a 2x State Champion in the 200 Freestyle and was also a 2x Runner Up in the 500 Freestyle.  Parks was a part of the 2014 Boys High School team that finished 2nd at State and the 2015 Boys High School Team that finished 3rd at State.


After swimming at Avon, Parks swam for 4 years at the University of Arizona.  During his time at Arizona Parks competed in the Pac 12 Conference Championships each year an also qualified for the NCAA Championships on 2 occasions as well.


Parks also qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2016 in the 200 Meter Freestyle and 400 Meter Freestyle.


During his free time Parks traveling and spending time with his family at the lake.

Griffin Edwards Lead Coach - Championship

Griffin Edwards is joining the coaching staff after finishing his high school career.

Griffin swam for ACST for 7 years before swimming for Frankilin Community High School.  During his Junior and Senior years at Franklin Community the boys teams finished 2nd at the Indiana High School State Championships.  Griffin was a Top 16 qualifier in the 100 Butterfly, 200 I.M. and 100 Bakcstroke during that time, as well as a member of relays teams that finished in the Top 8.

During his free time Griffin enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  Griffin also wants the parents and swimmers at ACST to know he is all in for the program and wants to help each individual swimmer succeed to the best of their ability.

Andy O'Maley Lead Silver Coach

Coach Andy began swimming for Richmond Swim Club and then Richmond High School where he graduated in 1997.  During his time at Richmond, he was a 4 year letterman and received the team’s Workhorse Award twice and the team’s Mental Attitude Award once.  After High School he swam for 4 years at the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) where he was Team Captain his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year.  Andy also received the Men's Team Kelso M. Reid Mental Attitude Award his Freshman, Junior, and Senior year.

After college, Andy began coaching at Southport High School while completing his student teaching in the Fall of 2001.  Andy has also coached in Westfield, IN for WAS/CIA from 2003 – 2006,  Brownsburg, IN for Swim Indy/BBSC from 2006 – 2008, and Cardinal Ritter High School from 2008 – 2011.  Andy has coached at ACST since the summer of 2011.

He has been a Zone and Quad coach on 4 occasions:

2004 Team Indiana Mid-State Quad Coach, Local Assistant Coach

2004 Team Indiana Zone Coach, 11-12 Boys Head Coach

2006 Team Indiana Zone Coach, 10 & Under Girls Head Coach

2008 Team Indiana Mega Zone Coach; 11-12 Boys Head Coach. 

Coach Andy is currently an ASCA Certified Level 2 coach and has attended several ASCA and USA Swimming clinics and workshops.

Andy has been the Visual Arts Teacher at Cardinal Ritter High School since 2002.  Andy has been married to his wife Regan since the summer of 2003.  They have two daughters, Rian (11) and Carly (8), and just welcomed a baby boy, Dylan, in October of 2017. 

Andy enjoys the opportunity to work with young people in a sport that he enjoyed and learned so much from.  He looks forward to helping his swimmers grow as swimmers and to help them be successful both in and out of the water.

Mercedez Bray Lead Bronze Coach

Mercedez is excited to join ACST after years of experience as an age-group, high school and college swimmer! She swam for Terre Haute South High School and holds school records in the 100 Breast and 200 Medley Relay and was team captain her senior year. Mercedez continued her career unto college, swimming for IUPUI, where she held school records in the 200 IM and 400 Medley Relay. She holds a degree in Communication studies from IUPUI, graduating with honors. Mercedez considers it her life’s dream to pet all of the dogs.

Coach Katie begins her 3rd year coaching at ACST for the 2018-2019 season. She started her swimming career at ACST as an athlete. Her passion, dedication and attitude led her to being one of the best swimmers in our local area in high school. Upon graduation from Danville High School she went on to swim at Arizona State University where her impact was immediately felt by her teammates. We are grateful to have Coach Katie's knowledge and experience in our program.
