Barrington Diving Program

Our training program focuses on the mastery of skill sets so that divers will have a solid foundation of base skills.  This will then help them learn harder dives when they are physically and mentally ready to make that next step.  We also incorporate flexibility, strength, and conditioning exercises as well as mental preparation for competition within the training.

Our program offers training from the beginning of September through the end of June (See below and webpage calendar).  Our fall and winter sessions are designed to begin and end so that they coincide with the girls and boys high school seasons during the school year.

We welcome divers of all abilities and will help them reach their individual goals within the sport.  The following are descriptions of the various levels, in order to help the coaches get a sense of each divers' ability.

Level 1

An introduction to the sport of springboard diving and designed to teach safe, proper ways to use a springboard. Any individual who has an interest in diving and can swim comfortably in deep water, and dive in head first off the side of the pool starts here. Students will be taught a forward approach and back press. They will progress to forward and back dive as well as other skills based on ability.

Level 2

Divers who already know how to do a proper diving hurdle, back press, forward dive with an approach and a backward dive without any assistance.

Level 3

Divers at this level at minimum can perform a forward dive, backward dive, reverse dive, inward dive and forward somersault without assistance. Divers should be enthusiastic about the sport of diving, have a willingness to learn more dives and may be interested in competing in the future.

Level 4

Divers at this level have a full competitive list for their age level or can complete 11 different dives if they are a high school diver. This group is geared to the diver who is competitive, looking to improve skills, learn new dives and looks forward to the challenge of becoming a better diver.
