Our throwback this week is from just two summers ago at the Age Group Championships. The 13-14 800M Free for Girls was a tremendous race seeing Lily Reader and Emily Bucaro go 1-2 swimming away from the competition in the last 400 meters. Anthony Irvin won a Gold Medal at the 2000 Sydney Games in teh 50 Free at 19 Years Old!! From that time on he was up and down and even out of the sport for a long period of time. In 2016 he staged at epic comeback at 35 year old and became one of the oldest men ever to compete in Olympic Swimming Ever! In 2002 at the US World Championship Trials Natalie Coughlin became the first woman ever to break a minute in the 100 Back. The meet was held outdoors at the Hall of Fame complex in Ft. For this week's throwback we are going back to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and seeing Aaron Piersol win his first medal as only a 16 year old! After this swim Aaron dominated the 200Back for the next decade winning Olympic Gold in 2004 and Breaking the World Record in the 100 and 200 Backs more than 6 Times! This week's throwback is the 1976 Women's 4x100 Free Relay. This is an absolute legendary swim in the swimming community. During this time in history the East German Women were dominating the World Record board. They continued that dominance during the 1976 Games as well.
