Crown Point Swim Club Masters Swimming
Our masters program was started by former coaches Ken Seaman & Eric Neff as a means to get into shape for the Hoosier State Games. Masters began in the fall of 1986 as part of the club’s winter season.
Masters swimming offers competitive meets throughout the country and swimmers are registered with US Masters just as the age groupers are with USS Swimming. Some clubs have organized workouts with coached practices. Today our group is primarily lap swimming for fitness for adults with everyone doing their own thing. We do have a couple of members that do compete.
Bob Campbel won 4 state championships in 2007 in the 60 to 64 age group. Deb Schiesser, who does triathlons, competed in the Boston Marathon and finished higher in her age group than any female from NW Indiana. John Stromberger got a 2ND place in the national transplant games.
We use the pool approximately 10 months out of the years. We swim 3 evenings a week after the age group team finishes their practice. A fee is paid to the club to help with their expenses and members are asked to register with US Masters Swimming.
