MASTERS SWIMMING

"As best as I can remember, the Hub (now Crown Point) Master's program started in the fall of 1985.  Club coaches, Ken Seaman and Eric Neff, wanted to practice for the White River Games.  Most of our original group were parents of the age group swimmers.  We did structured workouts Monday through Friday.  We competed in the White River trials and finals during the summer and the Indiana Master's State Meet in March.  Over the years, we had state champs and one swimmer that won several titles in the National Senior Games.  We had swimmers compete in the Pan Pacific Games and the National Transplant Games.  We had a swimmer ranked in the top 10 times in the world in the 50 meter backstroke in her age group.

We've had folks move away, pass away, and move on to other things.  Today we swim 3 times per week.  We range in age from our 20's to our 70's.  A few of us still compete and we have some that train for triathlons.  Mostly, we are an adult group that swims laps for fitness and we have no structured workouts.

Please note, a married couple that swim pay only one fee.  Anyone who is a parent of a club age group swimmer pays no masters fees.  However, all are asked to register as a master's swimmer with GRIN (Greater Indiana Masters Swimming)." - Corby Sanders
