Announcer

Announce the heats and events. Report on deck at the announcer's table 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet session. This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck

Assistant Meet Director

Works with the Meet Director to ensure the met runs smoothly.  Helps guide workers on their assignments and responds to questions as needed. This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet.  On deck

Awards

Distributes heat winner and participation prizes to swimmers. This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck

Bullpen

Bullpen volunteers line swimmers up for their events.  You will refer to a heat sheet to make sure each swimmer gets into the correct heat and lane before their event.  Typically in the bullpen area, chairs are set up in rows to represent each heat and lane.  You will make sure the swimmers stay in the bullpen area and in their seat until their heat is called to the pool. You will also work with fellow bullpen workers to locate missing swimmers. Report to the cafeteria 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet. You will be able to leave the bullpen to watch your own swimmer's events.  Great job for parents of 8&u and 9/10.  Difficult to see child swim if 13&U and 11/12

Clerk of Course

Line up 10 & under swimmers by heat, in the team bullpen area, then lead them to pool deck and behind the blocks. Requires the ability to communicate with swimmers, coaches and other meet workers in an effective and timely manner. Report to the Head Clerk at the team bullpen area 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.  This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck

Concessions

Sell concessions during the meet. Report to the concession area in the cafeteria or in the pool stands (Friday nights only).

General Pool

General Pool will be assigned to fill any vacant positions as needed per meet. You must be flexible and willing to work in whatever position has last minute openings.

Hospitality

Set up and serve snacks and drinks to the officials, workers and coaches on deck during the meet. Report to the hospitality room on deck. This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck


Marshall

Safety is your primary concern.  You will be assigned to a specific area to control traffic flow and enforce safety rules.  Marshalls are in common areas, hallways, spectator areas and on deck. The job begins at the start of warm-ups. Depending on assignment you may not be able to supervise young children as some positions are on deck, monitoring door access, etc. 

Official 

Must be USA Swimming Official trained and certified prior to the meet (more training than Naperville Swim Official).  Officials observe and record swimmer's start, stroke, turn, and touch violations and note any disqualifications by raising your hand and then completing a swimmer DQ card. This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck

Runner

Run paperwork between the computer table and the timers. Also, collect DQ cards from the officials and deliver to the computer table and post results obtained from the scorers in the hallway outside the pool. Report on deck near the scorer's table 30 minutes prior to the meet start.  This is a good job for watching all of the events up close. This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck

Timer

Use stopwatches provided by host team to time each heat and record times on timer sheets. Also, press plunger at end of race for electronic timing system. Report on deck near the scorer's table 30 minutes prior to the meet start.  Timers are required to attend the timer meeting.  This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. Timing Equipment Operator

Works the timing equipment at the table next to the started.  Do not be scared of this job!  There is training day of and it is easy to pick up.  As long as you are comfortable with a computer this is an easy job.  Best seat in the house!!! This is not a job that you can supervise your own small children during the meet. On deck

Worker Check In / Front Desk

Works the volunteer check in / front desk – first job to arrive each session.  Once worker check in is complete, you may be reassigned to other positions.
