South Irvine Dolphins is a nonprofit summer swim team that has been part of the Irvine Swim League (ISL) since 1995. The season runs for 10 weeks from beginning of June to mid-August with practices held at the University High School pool.

Swimmer Eligibility

As an ISL "city team", we are open to swimmers from ages 5 to 18 (age on June 1st) who live or attend school anywhere in Irvine.  All swimmers must be water safe and be able to swim at least 25 yards (1 pool lap) unassisted and without floaties.

Joining the team

ISL allows a maximum of 130 swimmers per team. If you are interested in joining the team, please add your name to our interest list and you will be contacted once registration opens for new families.  For additional registration information including registration fees and refunds policy, please click here.

Parent Volunteers

South Irvine Dolphins is a 100% volunteer organization so every parent’s participation and cooperation are required. Each family is asked to volunteer at swim meets and on committees that organize and hold team functions. For detailed volunteering requirements please click here.

Coaches

All our coaches have the American Red Cross CPR/AED training and certification as well as the Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification.

ISL Detach Rule

Swimmers age 9 and older who are 1) new to the team and 2) also swim on year-round clubs must detach from their club team by first day of the first club meet during the ISL season in order to compete at the ISL Championship meet at the end of the season. The swimmer is not eligible to compete at the Championship meet if he/she does not detach from the club team.
