Peoria Area Water Wizards - Lead/ Assistant Coaches 


We are seeking qualified assistant coaches to join our staff. Ideal candidates are passionate about the sport of swimming and focused on athlete development. The candidates will join our Head Coach, along with other members of our coaching staff, to assist with or lead one of 5 practice groups ranging in age from 6 to 18 years old. These positions will require working evening hours on weekdays, and some morning/afternoon hours on weekends, including extended weekend hours on meet weekends. 

Qualifications/Expectations 

  • Previous coaching experience
  • USA Swimming Coach Certification. Willingness to complete full coaching credentials, if not currently certified, is mandatory
  • Maintain safety and background check requirements required to be a USA Swim Coach Member
  • Thorough knowledge of competitive swimming and stroke mechanics
  • Technical knowledge required to coach novice through elite-level athletes
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, positive role model
  • Team-oriented, good communicator
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • 3-6 practices per week
  • Ability to teach stroke technique to 12 & under athletes
  • Attend meets on a need basis
  • Work with head coach and lead coaches; take direction as needed
  • Actively provide feedback to athletes to increase improvement
  • Be available to attend weekend meets occasionally as needed
  • Attend team functions outside of the pool setting
  • Complete administrative tasks as requested - attend staff meetings, complete hours spreadsheet, etc

Compensation 

Pay is commensurate with experience. These are hourly positions. The Club will cover the costs of required certifications and USA Swimming membership as well as reimburse approved professional development fees. Travel costs for out-of-town meets (hotel, mileage, meals) will be covered. Coaching perks of swimmer fees are available if you have swimmers in the club and work a minimum number of hours per week.
